The Sunburst Inn was an ideal place to stay. It was an easy walk to the Quarter but the perfect distance away from it, tucked into a beautiful, quiet neighborhood. We (two females) walked to Frenchmen and the Quarter every day and night with ease and felt safe. The inn was very clean and the room was perfect. The mattress was tempurpedic and the most comfortable thing I've ever slept on. The heat and AC were very easy to control and kicked on right away. The shades kept the room very dark if you desired but super bright when pulled back. The bathroom floor was heated and our hosts gave us complimentary snacks, milk, water and cereal. They refilled our bottled water regularly. Television worked great. Even the futon we requested was comfortable. We saw our hosts when we checked in and maybe once or twice in the morning on our way out and they were nothing but kind. We never saw other guests so it was almost like staying in our own home. We were able to use the hot tub also which was located in a pretty courtyard out back. It was immaculate and utter perfection. There's a lovely porch and three delicious cafés down the block (the Who Dat being the closest and highly recommended). Please do give this place a try if you're in Nola!
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- The house is a Victorian style built in 1905 and has all the original floors and chandeliers with 12 foot ceilings. We are just 5 blocks for the French Quarter and 3 blocks from the famous Frenchman St. where there is live music and great dining. The Street Car line that travels along the river is 5 blocks away and there are also great little cafes on the Conners from our place. The Marigny neighborhood was vote a top ten place to live in 2010 by the ADA. We like to say that we are far enough but close enough to the madness of the Quarter. ... more less
