We ate here a few years back and couldn't wait to get to town and go again! Still amazing! Attention to detail still reigns. A bit pricy but you don't leave disappointed. Applause for having Nero D'Avola on the wine list! Kudos to Sierra for lovely service!

Thank Julie S

I was meeting a friend for a meal in the French Quarter while in town for a convention. We both decided to try a place neither of us had been to before. Out came the Trip Advisor mobile app and we started searching. Between us we have lived in New Orleans for more than 15 years, so we have eaten some fantastic meals. We called the Italian Barrel to check availability and they were full inside, but had a table on the front sidewalk available. We started with Prosciutto with melon, followed by a Jumbo Lump Crabmeat salad and then a special of the day, Filet with Gorgonzola sauce. Everything was fantastic including the service by Marta our waitress from Italy. It is a very small restaurant so I commend a reservation if planning to eat inside.

If you are like my husband and I you want to try every restaurant in New Orleans. After working our way through quite a few, we were told to try the Italian Barrel. What a warm, pleasant experience with wonderful choices from appetizer to main course. This seven table spot with a few additional tables outside served outstanding northern Italian cuisine without the stuffiness of some upscale places. The portions are large and filling whether you get the lasagna or the crab salad (crab on top of mixed greens, avacado, etc., etc.) Wine list was also very nice with bottles $40 and up. Service was excellent (thank you Adam!) Make reservations, as this place can fill up fast. Right by Frenchman street - so go eat and than dance the night away!

This was my and my husband's favorite restaurant in NO! We ate here our first night in the city and enjoyed it so much that we decided to go back a few days later for our anniversary. The food was delicious and the service excellent. A little on the pricey side, but worth splurging for. Be sure to make reservations as the restaurant seats only about 10 tables.
