We stayed at the hotel earlier this week. I was happy to book it through a Travelzoo deal - the hotel was positioned as a boutique hotel in a good location with overall fine reviews.
The hotel turned out to be not old and charming but old, filthy and neglected. The suite room (we are a family of 4) was dirty, with broken furniture, ton of dust on all surfaces and dead cockroaches on the floor.
The personnel was not nice. The lobby smelled like a public restroom. Since we were traveling with 2 children, they were supposed to sleep on a couch. We only got 2 sheets but never an extra blanket or pillows.
The location is fine. It's about a mile from the French quarter. When we arrived we wanted to take a trolley to get their, it seemed like a nice experience.Be aware that trolleys are inconsistent and in the morning rush hour or after 2:00 in the afternoon they are completely full and do not stop at the hotel's trolley stop. Though it has nothing to do with the hotel itself, consider this when you choose location. After an hour-long wait, we never got on one.
Anyway, New Orleans is a charming city that has plenty of different hotels. Stay away from this one!!!More
