“Great Shrimp n Grits”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

Great choices of sandwiches, classic N'awlins cooking, and pretty good iced coffee too. We went for brunch, girlfriend was in love with her shrimp n grits (although the biscuit on top of everything else was too much!) and I had a very nice chicken salad that was crisp and fresh, along with an iced coffee that was made with a surprisingly dark roast which I quite liked.

“Meh ”
Reviewed June 15, 2014 via mobile

I was pretty excited to try Cake Cafe considering all of the rave reviews and that it was just a short walk from where we were staying in the Marigny.

We had breakfast one morning & overall the best thing about breakfast was the coffee. I ordered the lightly breaded tilapia with eggs and grits. The tilapiawas lightly breaded & completely flavorless. The grits underneath the tilapia were dry and meh. There was nothing worth remembering. There are far better restaurants in the area.

“You must go!”
Reviewed June 10, 2014 via mobile

This was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had.....the biscuits, coffee and donuts are literally to die for. The atmosphere is chill - you feel like you're in a real neighborhood spot. A must.

“Laid back deliciousness”
Reviewed May 30, 2014 via mobile

Unfortunately this little neighborhood gem has received buzz in travel magazines worldwide. Too often there is a long line for a casual restaurant that should be more neighborhood gathering place than tourist bucket list. That being said, Cake is worthy. You order at the counter, get your drink and find a table inside or out. (Great street vibe outside!) Your order is delivered to you. Breakfast is served all day, there are inventive pastries, sandwiches on housemade bread and to-die-for cupcakes. Daily specials and home made soups go fast. Last visit my friend and I split a tofu sandwich and chicken salad. Tofu featured pesto and tomato; chicken was home made with pecan and cranberries. The wedding cake cupcakes were moist and almondy. Don't be in a hurry, remember that this is New Orleans and the Marigny...relax and enjoy.
