“Laid back deliciousness”
Reviewed May 30, 2014 via mobile

Unfortunately this little neighborhood gem has received buzz in travel magazines worldwide. Too often there is a long line for a casual restaurant that should be more neighborhood gathering place than tourist bucket list. That being said, Cake is worthy. You order at the counter, get your drink and find a table inside or out. (Great street vibe outside!) Your order is delivered to you. Breakfast is served all day, there are inventive pastries, sandwiches on housemade bread and to-die-for cupcakes. Daily specials and home made soups go fast. Last visit my friend and I split a tofu sandwich and chicken salad. Tofu featured pesto and tomato; chicken was home made with pecan and cranberries. The wedding cake cupcakes were moist and almondy. Don't be in a hurry, remember that this is New Orleans and the Marigny...relax and enjoy.

“Great Gravy!”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

We took a cab from Canal Street but you wouldn't necessarily have to (we walked back after eating way too much delicious food!). This is not a fancy breakfast place, you wait in line to place your own order at the counter and the room itself where you can sit inside is not large. There are seats outside on the sidewalk but it was too hot for us on Memorial Day. We had a party of four and one of us ordered two breakfasts because everything looked so good - and we were not disappointed! The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the whole "self-service" idea of the place. I liked it a lot and don't have a problem with it, if I know what to expect. The prices were great and we were all very satisfied with our breakfasts. Oh, and don't forget to get the cupcake for a dollar more when you order breakfast. Excellent appetizer!

“Holy sacred delicious brunch goodness!!”
Reviewed May 27, 2014

A friend of mine who lives in New Orleans recommended this place for brunch. This was one of the best brunches I have had, ever, in any restaurant, in any city. The staff were also super friendly and warm. I had the crab omelette and angel food cupcake. I will keep this review short, because you simply have to go here. Everything on the menu looked amazing.

“Brunch serene”
Reviewed May 26, 2014

We walked over for breakfast after Mass on Easter Sunday. Nine of us, all dressed up, with no apparent tatoos, and the place could not have been more friendly to us obvious outsiders. We were seated out front on the sidewalk, where we spotted Mr. Okra and his truck and other colorful local characters. Food was wonderful. The people watching was even better. What a warm and friendly place to spend a quiet morning away from all the noise.
