“Perfect For Convention”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2013

The Hampton Inn is just across the street from the convention center which makes it very convenient if you are attending some conferences. Upon check in, I was given a card for a buy one-get-one free drink at the hotel bar called Warehouse. Room is nice and comfortable, although my window was on the same level as the roof top of an adjoining building. Rooms come with a microwave and refrigerator which is nice. Hotel serves breakfast daily which is a big plus if you want to save some money on meals. Location wise, the hotel is in the warehouse district which makes it quiet and a good place to unwind at the end of the day. Bourbon St / French Quarter is located about a 20 minute walk from the hotel or you can easily take a taxi. In terms of staff, it's sort of a hit or miss. Some are really friendly and nice, while others just seem annoyed and a little cold. I would definitely recommend this hotel since it's conveniently located to the convention center, restaurants, bars, riverfront, and shops.

During the Microsoft 2013 TechED Conference, my co-workers and I stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites Convention Center hotel. The convenience of being directly across from the convention center was wonderful as well as being near the French Quarter. The Hampton Inn was very clean and well lit. It was a great combination of history with the conveniences of modern technology. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Stayed here for 6 nights at the beginning of June while attending a conference in New Orleans. The conference center is right across the road and is very easy to get to from the hotel. Rooms are excellent. Stayed in room 560 for my time here and had zero problems. The king bed was very comfortable and the room was exceptionally clean. The housekeeping staff do a great job of keeping things clean and tidy. The nice thing is they clean the duvet covers for each time a guest checks out so you know your bedding is clean. There is a breakfast buffet each morning with a decent selection of food. I went near the end one morning and there was still a lot choose from but I did notice that by this time some of the warm food choices were a little bit funky. Probably because they were made a few hours prior. To be expected when going at the very end of a meal service.

Would highly recommend this hotel if you're going for a convention or even if you're staying pre or post cruise as it's very close to the port. Location is a fair walk to the French Quarter if that is your intention but we made he trek almost daily as we didn't have a car. Took us about 20 minutes one way.

Other than that, you can't lose by booking this hotel.

If you're in New Orleans and have anything to do at the convention center, this is a great place to stay for the location alone. If you get a room on the north side of the building, you can be down the elevator, out the side door and into the convention center in less than five minutes. From the outside, the building looks quite old (and somewhat dilapidated in places). Once you're inside, however, everything is renovated and comfortable.
The included breakfast here was on of the better breakfasts I've seen from a hotel. There were a wide variety of both hot and cold options and a large, inviting dining area. Also above average was the wireless internet. It was capable of browsing, streaming and keeping up a remote desktop connection on all but one of my six nights and even then things only got a little choppy.
The hotel isn't without a few minor flaws though. On the evening that I first arrived, my bathroom had't been cleaned (there were still wet towels on the floor). They immediately sent some up though who cleaned the whole washroom and even recommended a few good restaurants nearby. The other complaint I have is that the desk chairs are the most uncomfortably arranged pieces of wood and fabric I've ever had the misfortune of sitting on. The cushion sags and the edge is an uncomfortable ridge that cuts off circulation to the legs. The back is a hard, jagged slat of wood which digs in in all the worst places. I was there for work and needed to spend some time on my laptop and ended up sitting on the couch, hunched over the laptop on the coffee table.
Chairs aside, overall I really enjoyed my stay and would certainly consider the Hampton Inn again if I'm ever in town, especially if I'm there for a conference.

Room Tip: If you're there for a conference, get a room on the north side.

The hotel is a beautiful old warehouse that makes a wonderful hotel. It's affordable and the staff is great. Clean, fresh rooms. Convenient to everything, even the freeway. I will stay here again and again. My favorite hotel in New Orleans.

Great location, close to everything. A quick cab-ride to the quarter or a not terrible walk if you rather. Interesting restored warehouse hotel has a really nice lobby. Very clean, comfortable room - really like the linens. Helpful staff! Didn't have the the breakfast this time, but tried it before and it was good. Will stay again!

The building is wonderful----was an old cotton warehouse. It is right across the street from the Convention Center and a 1.3 mile walk to Jackson Square. Much closer to the Riverwalk. We walked to the French Quarter every day. The exercise helped us get ready for the NOLA cuisine!!!! The breakfast is not Haute Cuisine BUT it is more than "continental"----lots of protein choices (omelets and sausages) and fresh waffles are always on the "menu". The pool is nothing to write home about but there IS one. Parking is expensive (29.95/day) but it's super easy to get access to your car because the underground garage is easily accessible. We were staying there for a wedding right around the corner and because the reception was there......so for us, the location could not have been more perfect. All the staff we encountered were just super. I would stay here again for the value if I was with a group!
