What a surprise. This hotel is a conversion of an old warehouse in the warehouse district of NO.
It is spectacular. If you want one of those 4/5 star hotels with all the bells and whistles but still the same as the last one you stayed at, this is NOT for you. If you want, good service, great value, good location, wonderful large full rooms filled with antiques/charm/character then this hotel is FOR you! I just wish there were more hotels perserved like this.
No restaurant though and the bar had limited operating hours. But, the hotel did provide names of eateries that did provide delivery service and not just pizza joints.
The only drawback was the A/C which was very cold througout the hotel; and in the room we had to shut if off completely to get the thing to stop producing more cold air.

Room Tip: I would suggest getting a suite: it has a large bed, jacuzzi tub, big dining table, full kitchen and...

The Hampton Inn and Suite sConvention Center is a great place to stay in new orleans. It is right across the street from the Convention Center. The entire staff is friendly and helpful. Ask for a room in the old warehouse upper floor facing the park. The renovation to the old warehouse is amazing. High windows and great views highlight the room. The breakfast is super. Hot eggs, sausage, breakfast potatoes, hard boiled eggs, and other numerous goodies highlight the extensive breakfast. The front desk is very helpful, as well as the concierge and valets.I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Old warehouse side, upper floor, facing the park.

Our only problem was locating the entrance to the hotel since it was blocked with tour buses and other vehicles. Once we found a Hampton employee, he had us pull up in the holding bay for valet parking. The front door is located on Gaiennie, a one way street going toward the river. We had a great stay. Taxis are always on standby to take you to your destination so you don't have to fight parking in the city. The rooms are nice and the breakfast was great for the standard Hampton complimentary breakfast. It's great to see old buildings renovated into such nice places. Some of the original wood floors and hand hewn beams can be seen in the lobby. It's within walking distance to the D-Day museum and Cochon's restaurant.

We stayed here just after Hurricane Isaac hit and we cannot praise the hotel enough. The stay were very friendly even though many of them were staying in the hotel themselves as their own homes were without power. The room was lovely although the air con was very loud! Breakfast was fantastic also. The hotel isn't very near to the French quarter especially if you try to walk in the heat, however as Isaac had damaged the street cars we decided to walk and it wasn't too bad, in fact it was nice to get a good look around and a feel for the place. We got a taxi in and out each other time though. After a few drinks one night we left our back pack in the hotel lobby however the reception desk had found it and kept it safe for us with all valuable items still inside! We also paid the $30 for valet parking, street parking is available if you look hard enough but we liked the convenience and safety of valet parking. Would definitely stay there again if we have the pleasure of visiting NOLA again.

I don't know what else I can say that previous reviews haven't already! This place was the best hotel we've ever stayed in! We were with a reunion group and the entire hotel staff was so accomodating! The lobby was huge with several comfortable sitting areas for small groups to use for visiting. The patio area by the pool was super comfortable and not too small for our group to just sit and visit with each other. The bar is not just a counter but an actual small bar room - you can stay inside or take your drinks to the patio. Our room was in the old warehouse and it was AWESOME. Our room was right over the bar so we could hear voices until it closed at 11:00 but that wasn't a problem for us. Others in our group stayed in smaller rooms in the other building and were happy with those - small, but had everything they needed. No doubt in our minds - we would come back next year for our next reunion!

If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter without being entirely isolated from it, this hotel is a great choice. The Quarter is about a 20 minute walk or you can easily catch a cab or even a city bus. Dining options are a bit limited in the area but there are some good local places and you're not far from even more.

The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful and the hotel was spotless. The only minor complaint I had was a refrigerator that was acting up, making too much noise and rattling the microwave. This was easily fixed for me by unplugging them; upon reporting this to the front desk they assured me it would be more permanently fixed right away.

The pool is small but comfortable for lounging and the poolside area is great for sitting outdoors.

One important note: I am one of those people who has a hard time falling asleep in new places and so I very much noticed the street noise all night long, even up on the fourth floor. The area is pretty quiet at night but sound carries well so I heard trucks and sirens, and even the occasional conversation. Earplugs helped quite a bit - if you are also a fitful sleeper, you'll definitely want to take some preventive steps to ensure that you're able to get some rest.

The price was quite reasonable for a hotel of this quality. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. I picked the hotel hoping it would be quieter and calmer, and it did not disappoint. Some of the larger hotels here often feel very crowed and do not have enough parking for guests. This was not a problem. I enjoy walking, so it was not too far for me to walk to the French Quarter and I felt safe in doing so. The hotel is conveniently located across the street from the convention center and a couple blocks from the WWII Museum. There are not a lot of restaurant in the near vicinity, but a cab ride or walk will get where you want to go. Request a room on the warehouse side, if you enjoy tall ceilings, exposed brick and large windows.
