Had a nice room, but it was not worth the price of $225 per night. We had to walk across 2 busy streets to get to the breakfast, which was basically coffee and toast, whcih was not served until 8:30am. Our room was a suite, but no in-room coffee pot was provided. The location was a nice area, but was seriously far from the French Quarter sites, especially the casino. (We ended up having to take a cab to and from the house). Parking is on the street, but we saw several cars towed from that area.

Our resevation was screwed up by the Bookit but from the time we walked in the door we were made to feel welcome. The room was very charming. We were even offered a bigger room but chose to stay where we were. Coffee and pastries were avail even when we were late coming down in the morning. Pat the manager was very understanding and kept telling us not to worry about the resevation and payment she would get it straightened out. We had hoped to walk down to the French Quarter but we happened to pick a very cold week to be in New Orleans (this just made me want to go back again). My sister and bother-in-law were staying in another hotel (not as nice as ours) and had rented a car so transportation was not a problem. Never felt unsafe and the street was beautiful. I really am hoping to go back to New Orleans when it's not to cold or hot and would definetly stay at the Rathbone Mansions again (just hope I don't have to use Bookit) This was the perfect start to our cruise out of New Orleans

We checked in and the staff was very friendly. We got into our room, and it looked like a normal bed and breakfast room. The bathroom was the big problem. It didn't look very clean, and the shower was tiny. I barely fit into it. The water handles were barely connected to the wall. The spigot had black electrical tape covering a leak. I guess it was my fault trying to get a place to stay cheaply. If you want to go to New Orleans and stay someplace cheaply with not much consideration of the accomodations, this is the place to stay just because its so close to the French Quarter. I just like places a little nicer than this.

We arrived at the hotel about 4 hours before the check-in time but were able to check-in and was actually upgraded to a suite in the second mansion. Both building were stunning and full of character. The second one, in particular, was lovely. It was close to the French Quarter and the Louis cemeteries. The safety deposit box was free as was the wifi. Breakfast was great and included homemade biscuits and grits. The staff were lovely and very knowledgable - they gave us ideas where to go and recommendations on where to eat - the Port of Call was really good.

Very clean and friendly staff, each room has a different, tastefully done decor in this stately old home. Thank you Pat for making this a great experience!
