“Living like the locals! Great stay!”

Super B&B just outside the French Quarter. Close to the action when you want to have some fun but also far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet after fun on Bourbon Street.

Rooms are a good size, beds comfortable and the hot tub in back is great.

If you are looking for a change from a hotel, at an affordable rate this B&B hits the spot.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights-- and we loved every minute!

The mansion is so quaint and charming. It's old, so things creak and slant, but I find that part of the charm. Our room was a nice size (bigger than the room we stayed in at the Omni a few years ago) and had everything we needed, except a coffee maker (but that's available for $10 and comes with coffee grounds, creamer, sugar, etc). It was like staying at a friend's house instead of a hotel, which I like much much better!

There is a pool and hot tub on the premises which is very nice. The area where breakfast was served has one big table, so you get to know the other people staying there. I really enjoyed this feeling of camaraderie. Breakfast was great-- always a variety of breads, cereals, fruit, oatmeal, coffee, tea, etc. The breakfast hostess makes specials each day too. There are also maps, dining menus, and things like that in the main area.

The location of the mansions is great if you want to stay far enough away from all the chaos of Bourbon street but still within walking distance of the fun. Yeah it can be a bit of a hike, but it's a great way to learn your way around the city and really get in some good site seeing. It's close to Marigny too, which has a lot of cool bars and restaurants.

The staff was all very friendly and helpful. Brissly (I think that was her name...) took great care of us at breakfast. The inn keeper is a bubbly lady and fun to talk to.

We loved the feel of this place- laid back, quaint, cute, old. We'll definitely return!

Thank You for the lovely review, I like the explanation you used "the chaos of Bourbon Strret" as with any property we may not be for everyone, but if your looking for all the other things you talked about then we are right for you. You were great guests and I hope you can return someday, Thanks again, Cheers, Pat

Don't be fooled by the pictures , you get what you pay for! This is not in a very safe part of town and while it is close to the French Quarter, what they don't tell you is you are going to have to walk atleast 12 to 15 blocks to get to the popular part of the French Quarter. Also the first day, we checked in my husband had to wait to ask a question for atleast 10 minutes while the owner literally screamed at an employee in front of him over a detergent bottle, not the most professional thing to do in front of your guest. and to top it all off when we went to check out there was no one there at 8:25 in the morning building was locked up. We left keys in the box that was labled to leave them in.

Well I am sorry you did not enjoy it here, not sure why you don't think this is a safe neighborhood, I have never had any problems here, but you are entitled to your opinion. About us telling you how far a walk it is, had you asked we would have said, it is 2 blocks to the French Quarter and 5 Blocks to Bourbon St. The entire French Quarter is 8 Blocks by 14 blocks, I walk from Esplanade to Canal street easy in 30 minutes. And you DON'T HAVE TO WALK, you can take a Taxi, Rivefront Streetcar, or the Bus stops right in front of the property. As Well you could have used mapquest, google maps ect, and found exactly where we were. May I suggest next vacation you do a little simple reasearch so you will know where you will be staying and where the things you're interested in seeing are, I always do that before I travel, maybe it will help you. As for the Owner sreaming I do believe you misunderstood, we were laughing because it was the third time the company we order from had sent us wrong soap. About waitning 10 minutes, sorry sometimes we are busier than others, we take care of our guests to the best of our abilities.

For our mother-daughter trip to New Orleans we wanted a cozy B&B within walking distance of the French Quarter without paying French Quarter prices. We were not disappointed. The Victorian ambiance of the two historic mansions with their dark green, red and purple walls and draperies, and the whimsical artwork by one of the owners was really charming, (and we were even upgraded with out room.) From here we could easily walk to the French quarter after receiving valuable advice on where to eat and drink, and what to see and do. We also appreciated the fast internet connection in our room. The one thing we missed was some whole grain bread for breakfast, instead of all white. The banana walnut muffins, on the other hand, were great (and we even got the recipe!)

We stayed here over Easter weekend. This is a great location a few blocks from the French Quarter, and very easy to reach from the freeway without having to navigate many turns or intersections. Great for those who want to drive TO NOLA, but not AROUND NOLA.

I can't say enough good things about how friendly everyone is here. We had enough surly hotel people on our last trip, so were happy to find a much more personal place where the people really do care if we're having fun or not. We had a delicious breakfast each of the 3 mornings were were here. Coming down to breakfast is like being at a friend or relative's house, a big table and lots of smiles and friendly and interesting conversation.

Anywhere you need to arrange to go, from directions to entertainment or dining reservations or transportation, you can't beat the service from Rathbone. Anyone who goes to an old mansion expecting everything to be new simply has wrong expectations. Why would an old mansion be full of impersonal perfect, new stuff?

There are stacks of interesting coffee table books, and covered seating outside if you need something to do in the rain. There's a grill out by the hot tub and pool if you feel like BBQ'ing your own food. Also out back are lots of lounge chairs, a soda machine, and several tables with chairs, as well as bistro tables and chairs around the front porch.

Our queen room upstairs in the 1244 building had a microwave, mini frige, space heater for the bathroom, hair dryer, clock radio, flat TV hung high enough to watch comfortably while laying in bed. We didn't hear noises from other rooms except a couple times when somebody dropped something. A little more table space to put things like snacks would really help the room to be more usable. The only thing that was disappointing was the mattress, which was visibly (with the bedspread on) sunken on both sides. It was like sleeping in a double sink, extremely uncomfortable for someone with back and neck issues. Our window treatment was very attractive but there was no way to block the light from the white pane in the middle of the window, a very bright room even with the blinds closed.

We will be staying here again. This was our first B&B experience and it was a great one. Nobody bothered us . Breakfast was good. We even scored a King suite , when we actually only reserved a regular Queen room. Five minute walk to Bourbon Street. Absolutely beautiful neighborhood! We like the look and feel of lived in and that is what this B&B offers. We are not 5 star hotel people, we love funky and off-beat, more personable atmosphere. Honestly I personally feel this is the friendliest city that I have ever visited, and we travel a lot !
