“can i just live here?”
Reviewed June 2, 2010

full disclosure--i came here with a wedding party and thus received a discounted rate, but i am trying to review the Ritz as if i had paid a few hundred bucks more.
when i got home to atlanta yesterday, i was so sad that no one was coming to clean my room and make my bed, that the view out my window was just trees and houses instead of a bustling city, that i couldn't just go downstairs and expect a buffet of delicious snacks waiting for me...
this Ritz is beautiful. the staff was friendly. the bartender was...turtle-slow, but hey! this is nola, and everything moves at its own pace, right?
the king bed was divine and the lead curtains kept out the morning sunshine when we wanted them to. granted, the room was only 6 floors above canal so it was noisy at times, just from the street being so close.
the place is HUGE, and if you're tired of your room but don't want to head out on the town there are plenty of other options--the amazing patio, the lounge, the smoking room, the club level snack haven...you name it.
great stay!

This was my first time to stay at the Ritz-Carlton in New Orleans. I have been to New Orleans multiple times and this trip was the best by far. The hotel is beautiful and the staff was so friendly and helpful! But best of all was the bed. From the feather bed to the crisp white linens, it was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The second best thing about this hotel is that you can crank down the temperature in your room as low as you want and the air conditioner actually works! The hotel night life was great. They had a wonderful jazz band and singer who had everyone up and dancing. The food was a little pricey, for what you get, but there are plenty of other great places to eat in New Orleans. Needless to say, I will never stay in another hotel in New Orleans. Our entire group was completely satisfied with the accommodations.

It was my first time in New Orleans and my first Ritz Carlton - definitely not the last time for either. The Ritz Carlton was everything I expected and more. Fabulous room - large corner room with lots of light. Fabulous beds, great service. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and professional.

What can I say except that the hotel is 5 star Ritz posh two blocks from Bourbon Street. It lived up to its name. My only complaint is that after you pay $300 a night for a room, they still make you pay another $15 for in room wifi. That upsets me as a matter of principle. But otherwise, it’s a great place I would go to again.

Aside from Bourbon Street and the French Market, two places really added to my stay in New Orleans was 1) Acme Street Oyster House and 2) Estelli Cigar Shop. Acme is located right off Bourbon Street and is easy to spot because there is always a line outside. It has all the traditional Louisiana food but specializes in raw oysters. Sit at the counter in front of the shuckers and order up a couple dozen of what may be the biggest oysters you have ever seen.

Next a few more blocks away at 515 St. Louis St., is Estelli Cigar Shop run by Sergio and his family. The Cigar selection is fist class, the prices are reasonable, and the seating and conversation comfortable. If you are into cigar bars, this is the best one I found in New Orleans.

My daughter and I visited New Orleans and stayed here on their Club Level. The room was pretty, well appointed and large. The Concierge service was friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. The Club food was timely, varied and truly delicious. New Orleans was fine, but the hotel was the highlight!

I've stayed in many Ritz's with none making a bad impression! This one on the other hand messed up my reservation twice, didn't correct the problem and continued to make mistakes. We stayed at the "club level" of the hotel where we were told there would be food and drink all day. The food portions were so small most were one small bite. The drinks were served warm and the coffee was very bad. Finally the hotel is a maze and is extremely hard to find your way around.

As my title indicates, the comfort here is supreme. I was taken aback by some of the reviews on tripadvisor, boy was I wrong. I don't know where these bad reviews are coming from, but this place is the epitome of luxury and nothing less. The staff is very nice; always ready to help and please. The hotel itself is very luxurious, impeccably clean & comfortable, I can be very picky, but I was not able to find anything to complain about. I looked everywhere in my room for dirt, dust, signs of mouse/rats or mold as mentioned in some previous reviews and nothing, everything was spotless. I was given a room exactly to my liking. Rooms are large, very clean, comfortable & quiet, the bed is pure comfort. You will feel pampered here. Yes, the decor is old world & traditional, but this is a Ritz-Carlton and it absolutely fits in New Orleans. If you want edgy and cool, go stay at the W Hotel. The hotel location is good to visit New Orleans, however the hotel is located not too far from an iffy & dilapidated area... keep that in mind, but I can't see why tourists would wander in that area anyhow. If you are just curious, take the Canal streetcar going towards the cemeteries and you will see what I mean. I would return at the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans in a heartbeat.
