The hotel is centrally located in the middle of the French Quarter near to the Superdome, quality restaurants, shops, Harrahs and scenic sites. Valet parking and check in were smooth and quick. Parking: a challenge and there was no free parking. The room was well appointed with all the expected items including a safe. The bed was comfortable and we received a complimentary fruit platter and drinks on our arrival. We reported that one light bulb was blown to the front desk and then went to dinner. On our return, we found that it had been changed. No noise in the room but we were on a high floor. The room service was good as meals were sent up in 40 mins at 1am. Check out was also quick and without difficulty. Service: courteous, prompt yet unobtrusive.

I can't speak for the regular portion of the Hotel. We were upgraded to the Club Level which is essentially a separate hotel in the same structure. We have stayed in numerous top hotels around the world and this stay definitely ranks the the best we have experienced. Room was first class--hardwood floors, great bath, etc. Staff service and cheerfullness was best we have experienced from the moment we walked in to the moment we departed. The Club Level staff were incredible and the free Breakfasts, Lunch Snacks, Evening and Late Night food, wines, champagne, cocktails, etc were outstanding. Whatever we wanted, they would find a way to get it for you. The location is incredible, as well, in that it is across the street from the French Quarter and one block from the Royal Street Antique Shops. Definitely, the high point of our trip.

Stayed here over Christmas. Just about everything was disappointing and not up to what one expects from a Ritz. I've had better luck at 3 star hotels (although perhaps the Ritz recognized it since we paid a 3-star price).

The room was on the small side and the decor was drab and "tired" looking. The service in almost all departments was confused or careless. The hotel was clearly understaffed. Concierge service was truly amazing: After waiting 2 days (and after more than one reminder), Concierge No. 1 still had not gotten our Christmas Eve reservations, nor the sitting we requested for the Ritz's Christmas Brunch. Spotting a different concierge on duty, we tried our luck again. Within 5 minutes, Concierge No. 2 got our dinner reservations plus the seating we wanted for brunch. Clearly the previous poster who complained about concierge services got Concierge No. 1.

The restaurant food was quite good overall, but service was haphazard and slow. The one dining disaster was the Christmas Brunch. We had the 12:00 seating. Unfortunately, the food appeared and tasted like it was left over from the 10:30 seating. Everything except the carving station tasted like it had been sitting in the chafing dishes for ages. At $75 a piece, plus INCLUDED 20% tip (for worthless service), we left feeling genuinely ripped off. I've been to many $75 or more brunches before, and this was by far the worst I've ever encountered.

The last straw came at checkout. Our package included breakfasts and free internet services. The bill included charges for both, plus tax on valet parking which we hadn't even used. (Mind you, no charge for the valet parking, just the tax.) Each charge was accompanied by state tax, plus local tax, so by the time they straightened out the bill and each charge and tax item removed (which took an ridiculous length of time), the total was reduced by $300!

The one shining spot was the spa. Received great treatment there and would definitely use the spa when next in New Orleans.

Overall, was it a horrible experience? No. Would I ever go back to this hotel? No. Would I ever stay in another Ritz? Maybe, but their star is a bit less shiny now.

I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans for Christmas 2009.

The concierge suggested to us a restaurant for Christmas dinner, and booked our reservation. After walking (in the cold) for a half-hour to reach the restaurant, we learned it was CLOSED. We called the hotel, and the response of the concierge was only "sorry". Inexcusable!

The concierge suggested a "day tour" for us on Saturday. We woke up at 6:30am, and pick-up time was for 7:50am. After 15 minutes, there was still no tourbus, no pick-up. We began to worry and called the front-desk. The hotel was the tourbus would be there in "5 minutes". After waiting a total of 40 minutes (in the cold), I went inside and spoke with the concierge. They admitted that the tour reservation was made for the WRONG DAY. Ridiculous! First, we're told the tourbus is "5 minutes away", then we're informed there is NO tourbus coming for us at all.

Beware of the "resistance pool"! When I swam there, one of the lights in the pool was sticking out, including it's electrical wire IN THE WATER! I honestly was afraid I was going to be electrocuted--scary!

Very disappoiniting service from the concierge at the Ritz-Carlton.

Have stayed at other Ritz and experienced the highest quality service. The Ritz in NOLA did not achieve the same.
