“Must Stay for Mardi Gras - Location, Location, Location!”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

We literally booked our hotel - this hotel - only a few days before the second weekend of Mardi Gras this year (2014) and it was absolutely perfect! We had friends visiting from NY and we were all so impressed with the calibre of service we received. The room was a bargain, in my opinion. It was HUGE - when you walked in, you entered a square "hallway" and to your left was a dressing room/closet with mirror and safe and then the room next to that was the oversized bedroom with 2 queen beds, TV, fridge and then the room directly in front of you was the bath with floor-to-ceiling marble. It was Room 1135, just in case you'd like a ginormous room. Anyway, it was $349 without fees and parking but still a deal nonetheless. What else made it great was that we could stand right out front of the hotel to watch the Mardi Gras parades and it was located right where the parades turn around at Burgundy to come back down Canal Street so you saw the parades coming up Canal across the street and then down Canal right in front of you - crazy awesome! The hotel bar was lovely and the floral arrangements throughout were spectacular. I will definitely return - so impressed.

Room Tip: Our room, 1135, easily fit 4 of us with plenty of room to spare. We did not overlook Canal Street b...

The staff here couldn't be more helpful. They made every effort to make your stay wonderful. The rooms have very comfortable beds & lovely furniture but are on the small side. If you get a room overlooking Canal Street it can be noisy. The rooms are not as soundproofed as other places. The bathrooms are spacious & modern. They are quite luxurious. I was extremely surprised to find that our room did not contain an in-room safe. It also seems outrageous to me that at a hotel of this quality you must pay for wireless internet! With what you are playing for rooms & the fact that most of the chains that would be considered downscale from the Ritz include it for no extra charge it's quite shocking to be charged for this service.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the elevators & not directly on Canal Street are quieter.

This property was wonderful. It was beautifully decorated, and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The club lounge was a real treat as well. The check in was seamless, and the check out was too. This hotel is close to everything and in walking distance to all of the attractions in the French Quarter. If you are looking for luxury, then this is your place. It was really a beautiful stay.

Staff was typical Ritz-Carlton quality and very friendly. We were in town with a group for a football game and everyone had a great stay. Spa was excellent and enjoyable. We really enjoyed the bar downstairs and breakfast was incredible yet a little pricey but worth it.

Location can not be beat for New Orleans. Walk to almost everything and easy to catch a cab uptown if needed. I would recommend this property to anyone coming to the Big Easy.

We splurged and had a wonderful weekend here a few weeks before Mardi Gras (still parades and fun but a lot less people). We stayed on the club Maison side and the rooms are luxurious and spacious. The lounge has grab and go snacks around the clock, a good breakfast and light eats for lunch and dinner. The staff was superb - especially Madeline and Russell. Although I did not check out the massage, I did work out - there are three large rooms - weights, cardio and stretching. There is also a hot tub and a small pool. Use of the dry and wet sauna is $25 per 24 hours (but included in any massage service). You can walk to everything in the French Quarter from here. If it rains, they will provide you with an umbrella. Cab fares will be a flat $33 from the airport to the Quarter for 2 people ($15 for each additional)

We found the layout of this Ritz Carlton a bit confusing at first, until we discovered that the first three floors were formerly a department store and the upper stories were medical offices. Taking two different elevators to get in and out is a bit inconvenient, but not really a big deal. The location is just about perfect, and with a little exploring you can find the back entrance that puts you right on Iberville Street in the French Quarter. As with any Ritz Carlton, the restaurant and bar are fairly expensive but the bar has live jazz several nights a week. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

We went to New Orleans for a Mardi Gras Ball. We stayed at the Ritz, and we brought our very well mannered, pampered, pooch. The staff was so welcoming! Leo had his own goodie bag full of special treats. The lobby is elegant, and the ballroom facilities were great. This would be a wonderful place for a wedding. Our room was very nice. We had no view except for the windows of the other rooms across the courtyard, but it was quiet. This is what you want during Mardi Gras! People party all night in the streets, so a room facing the street would have been too loud. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was luxurious. I would stay here again. I realy felt like everyone cared about their guests.

Room Tip: If you go to bed early, sacrifice a street view, and ask for a quiet room.
