“Great service”

The rooms are comfy, quiet and very clean. The doormen are so friendly and helpful. It is located on busy Canal St., but so close to all the attractions. There are sketchy people in the area due to the volume of tourists, but the hotel is super safe. We enjoyed the clean workout area! My only recommendation would be to have a coffee pot in the room.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary last year at the Ritz in New Orleans. We stayed on the club level, and it was so, so worth it! The room was lovely - hardwood floors, canopy bed, luxe bathroom. It rained, no poured, the entire weekend that we were there, but the great thing was that we really did not need to leave the hotel. We would just wander from our room to the club lounge. There, we could graze on really nice snacks and appetizers, sip wine, read and just relax. We spent hours and hours in the club lounge and just enjoyed it. We enjoyed it so much that we did not go out for a meal the entire time that we were there - I know, I know its New Orleans and one really should go out to eat! But with pouring rain and steam rising from the streets, it was nice to just chill in the quiet club lounge above the hot noise of the French Quarter below.

This was our fist trip to the Big Easy and The Ritz was an amazing choice. The location for us first timers was great. Just on the edge of the French Quarter so almost all sites are with in walking distance,, great restaurants a few blocks away, and at the same time simply cross Canal St. and you are only steps away from a completely different part of the city with all the modern amenities that you may need. St James Trolley to the Garden District is also a 2 block walk.
The hotel staff were so helpful from the front desk people to the concierge who not only had great suggestions but also took care of the bookings too. Being my birthday, they went above all expectations too, from the Birthday cake to the room upgrade and more.. I would return in a heat-beat. If you're thinking about New Orleans, don't pass this place up!

Room Tip: If you go for the Suite on the 4th floor,, make sure its not the room on the Canal Street side with...

We stayed in New Orleans. I am going to be truthful enough to say the French Quarter was a bit seedier than I imagined it would be. (Too many vagrants on the streets). The service we received from staying at the Ritz was top notched. It was a safe haven. The workers could not have been more welcoming- EVERYONE- from the person who welcomed us at the door to the desk. It was worth every penny.

I cannot say enough about this hotel. The staff was great. The room was great. The bar was great and the food was... wait for..., great!
The location is hard to beat. Pretty much just around the corner from Bourbon Street and all it's charms.

Room Tip: The buffet is a bit pricey. You'll do best to just order off the menu.

My family had a great stay here in early June. Love the "extra" touches: water for runners when you walk in the front door, the free umbrella loans, the signature waters in the lobby and of course the fantastic service. Everyone, from the doormen to the front desk staff to the housekeeping staff went out of their way to be kind, courteous and even made my 8 year old feel special! The Ritz offers a lovely, welcoming repose from the craziness of the French Quarter.
We had a one-bedroom suite and after moving from a very dark suite (no windows in the bedroom!) to a much lighter one overlooking the courtyard we were very happy and comfortable. The pull-out sofa was fine for kids (wouldn't want to be an adult sleeping on it!) and the bathroom amenietes were great. I always love the separate tub/shower, but all in all it was a very well appointed room.
It is an older, city hotel and definitely not a "resort" feel. We often book club-level when staying at Ritz resorts but chose not to here because we wanted to enjoy all of the fantastic New Orleans restaurants. We received some solid recommendations from the conceierge for restaurants and had fun wandering out on our own in search of the perfect breakfast spot.
We were there in June and it was scorching. As noted by other commenters, there is no pool here (other than a very sad looking resistance pool in the spa). However, we were able to enjoy the outdoor pools at both J.W. and the Marriott Hotels just down the road from the Ritz. We liked the atmosphere and service at the Marriott better (it's a much bigger pool than the J.W.) but we enjoyed both pools and did not find it an inconvenience at all. We were told at both hotels that on busy days, priority is given to guests at the specific hotel, which is totally fair. Perhaps, call ahead to make sure there is room for your party!
I found a blow-dry bar just a block from the hotel so I was able to control the curls despite the humidity! (The spa at the Ritz charges $65 to blow-dry and the place down the street is about $30).
We enjoyed a night cap at the bar each night and there were some games to play (checkers, cards, etc) in the adjacent library, which was fun.
There was one conceirge who (hopefully) was just new and inexperienced as she told us to show up at the wrong place for a ghost tour and almost made us miss our reservation! Luckily, all was fine in the end.
We left feeling pampered and relaxed and very happy.... until we reviwed our portfolio.
A $151 charge was billed in error. The front desk was great and removed it quickly with apologies and presented us a corrected invoice. However, the charge remained on our credit card and we had to contact the Accounting department multiple times over a period of 20 days to finally have their mistake corrected. This left us with a bit of a sour taste and was not the memory we wished to take from our trip to the Ritz, New Orleans.

I was recently at the Ritz-Carlton for a brief business trip. The property is located blocks from Bourbon St., and many of the attractions in the downtown area. The rooms are very nice and quiet. Given how boisterous New Orleans can be, it is quite tranquil. The meeting space we used was more than adequate and the catering was very good. Our "box lunches" were actually in resuable, insulated lunch bags, Ritz-Carlton branded, of course. I'd definitely go back.
