Just returned from a 3-night stay at JQ. What a gem! If your accomodation preference is for authentic places a bit off the beaten path, this is your place. Just steps away from the heart of the French Quarter. So much more character and charm than a chain hotel. The morning breakfast is a nice touch, and it's always fun chatting with fellow travelers. The hosts have a wealth of information on restaurants, activities, tours, etc. HIGHLY recommend a tour with Naif (a retired teacher with more knowledge about NO than you can believe), he does all kinds of tours, from cemetery, food, drink, history, whatever you want. Such a fun day. We stayed in the Marsalis room; only quibble is the "hand shower." I think all other rooms at JQ have a standard American shower. We got by, but for more than a couple of nights, I might choose another room. In fiarness, this was pointed out clearly in the room description, but we didn't really realize the inconvenience of it until we got there. But I'm sure others might not mind.

Thanks so much for your awesome review! It is especially gratifying to get such positive feedback from one as well traveled and knowledgeable as you. You might want to know that we are changing the bathroom in the Marsalis cottage to make it more "user friendly", We hope you can return to us to see the result.

Best to you in your future travels.

The Jazz Quarters Team.

The service was extraordinary: Brenna and Charlie were the perfect hosts. From the moment we made the reservations and through our stay they arranged everything for us---sightseeing, restaurant reservations, and unexpected activities. The breakfasts offered unique and well prepared menus. We have never been to a bed and breakfast and asked friends about what to expect. They all said that they had never received this kind of service and attention and that we were very fortunate to have found a gem like this. Thanks for a wonderful experience and for spoiling us for any bed and breakfast in the future.

My husband and I just returned from a fantastic stay at the Jazz Quarters. I surprised him with a long weekend getaway for his 40th birthday. It was perfect! Brynna was super super helpful upon our arrival by giving us maps with culinary points of interest and general information.

The location is perfect--we walked everywhere and felt perfectly safe. Yes it's across the street from a park but we did not encounter anyone or thing unsavory. And we were told that New Orleans is just dark at night--low street lights. We felt completely safe exploring the city by foot day or night--and walking back to the B&B at night.

We stayed in Mayfield. Fabulous. The room was comfortable and quiet. My husband was super impressed upon walking in and was sure it cost much more than it actually did. You really get a lot for your money. The breakfasts were high class and delicious!! A filling way to get your day started. We both gobbled up everything on our plates each morning.

A little note on our adventures in NOLA--we really enjoyed Frenchman Street ( a recommendation by Brynna). Great local music and a fun art market with local artists--I bought a necklace. It's a refreshing change from the tackiness and cover bands of Bourbon Street. I am sure if we had more times we would have been able to find other pockets of local charm.

I would definitely stay here again for any reason I was in New Orleans. It would be a fun place to stay for a girls weekend and it's definitely a great place to go for a couples stay.

In conclusion, WE LOVED IT. It's as one of the best places we've stayed as as couple in the US and we voted it best B&B breakfast we've had thus far. And fantastic staff. So book your next stay in New Orleans here!

Really recommended. Location is great, value is fantastic, and the staff are very nice. Walking distance to so many great things, yet just slightly away from all the crowds. I imagine it would be lovely for a large group too.

Room Tip: We stayed in the White Room (for a couple).

We first saw this place in the middle of the night. We could not see much, but it did not look like much at first glance. We wondered if our friend, who asked shouldn't we have stayed in a fancy hotel in the Quarter instead, was right.

When we saw it in full light, we saw it in, no pun intended, a different light. This place is great. Fabulous rooms in a terrific setting, with a very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly staff, delicious local-style breakfasts (which was exactly what we wanted), etc. And every size room, from the tiny but wonderful White Room (our son said it had the most comfortable bed he has ever slept in) to our Fountain Room (with room for us and our other son) to cottages for large groups. Try to find THAT in the Quarter (which is only one half block away, and this place is in an interesting neighborhood itself, set in the birthplace of jazz and only a block away from a former recording studio that was the birthplace of rock and roll).

As my son said on the last day of our stay "When we go back to New Orleans, why would I want to stay anywhere else?"

Room Tip: Any room here will be great.

The location is ideal as we were just on the border of the tourist centre (The French Quarter) and Treme which was an interesting suburb to explore. Brenna took very good care of us and went the extra mile to ensure all our needs were met. The rooms were uniquely decorated and comfortable. I would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting New Orleans.

Room Tip: My Partner and I stayed in the White room which we thought was lovely. It was small though so if you...
