The New Orleans Jazz Quarters
Ranked #20 of 141 New Orleans B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed February 17, 2012

We are a couple traveling from our home state of Illinois to NOLA to visit our daughter who resides there. We stay predominately at B&Bs when we travel - and thought this was one of our best experiences. Lola and Vincent were wonderful hosts, made us feel very welcome, and made our stay (4 nights) very relaxing and enjoyable. The full breakfast was in keeping with local cuisine, and delicious - it's nice not having to begin the day searching for a breakfast spot. They provided maps of the area, which helped in our planning, and their recommendations for restaurants and bars were not the typical tourist spots, which is a plus for us. The B&B location is a brief walk from the French Quarter; and the parking is off street, and very secure. The rooms are lovely, and the gardens are beautiful. We plan to stay here again on future visits to NOLA - and would highly recommend it to others.

Thanks, Sandra.
I am glad you made the long journey home back safely,
You and Richard were a joy to have over at our B&B.

All the best, and please tell Brynna that both Lola and I were much impressed by her.

We had a fantastic 4 night stay at the Jazz Quarters for my husband's birthday. The B&B was recommended to us and it was everything we expected and more. We loved the layout of the property and the privacy we had coming and going. Our room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast every morning was delicious. Vincent & Lola were the best... best cooks, host/hostess, tour guides, best innkeepers.
The location of the Jazz Quarters is great and we walked everywhere. When we needed a cab, one could always be found at the corner of St. Phillip and Rampart.
We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to NO.

Room Tip: Check out the photos on the website. They represent the B&B exactly.

My husband and I just returned from a long weekend at The Jazz Quarters. The rates are very reasonable considering location. Parking is included which is almost unheard of in the city, not to mention the convenience and peace of mind of having your car inside the grounds of the B&B. We arrived on Friday, and had originally booked the White room but were upgraded to the Connick suite. It has a large master bedroom with a king bed and an adjoining room with a queen. The bathroom has been renovated and everything was very clean. The location is great, close enough to walk to everything in the Quarter and Canal St. but far enough away to get a quiet nights sleep. Lola and Vincent were amazing hosts! They made us feel like we were staying with friends and had many helpful tips and recommendations about the city. The breakfast was wonderful! Vincent's bread pudding with bacon praline sauce was one of my favorite meals during our time in NO. Overall, the Jazz Quarters is a beautiful place to retreat to after an exciting day in the French Quarter and we will definitely be staying here on our next trip to NOLA!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Jazz Quarters while at a conference, and my stay was lovely. It is well situated just outside the French Quarter in easy walking distance. I borrowed one of the bikes one day and rode around the city. It was a great way to see the city and a really nice extra that the B&B provides. Being a woman traveling alone I took cabs at night, and I think this was wise. During a day I was not concerned about walking alone at all.

My room was lovely and nicely decorated. The colors were beautiful and the bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable. The bathroom was on the small side but ultimately enough room for me. The room itself did not have windows except for the door which certainly made for good sleeping.

Lola, Vincent and the other staff were laid back, kind and full of great recommendations and city knowledge. The breakfasts were divine and they kindly catered to the fact that I don’t eat meat. There were always delicious fresh baked goods available for a snack. The peanut butter cookies were delicious! It was nice being able to visit the kitties as well. Loved their cool outdoor space.

I highly recommend The Jazz Quarters and can’t wait to visit again but next time it will be for pleasure!

Thank you, for the kind review.

I am glad you were able to squeeze a bit of fun and sight-seeing in the hectic conference schedule.
You were a fantastically kind and pleasant guest. Lola, and I look forward to your return, and Dieudonne, and Alain Delon are looking forward to more belly-rubs.

Found this small B&B through the great ratings on trip advisor. Booked at a very competitive price, especially when you consider the location and secure vehicle parking were included. ($25-30/day is usual in NOLA) Managed to book a weekday with spur of the moment 1 day notice. Lucky, because they are usually very booked up over weekends. Received a conformation call from the manager, Vincent while we were on our way into NOLAA, and he met us at the security gate to let us in. Also received a choice of rooms at no extra cost, more about that later.
The location is on St Phillips St, just across Rampart St from the French Quarter. A quiet area, and safe enough to walk to the French Quarter (and back!) at night, for a couple, but like most of NOLA the haves and have-nots live fairly close to each other so if you are nervous at night, taxis are pleantiful. Its about a 10 minute stroll to Bourbon St, and all the noise or a few minutes more to any of the fine resturants or the streetcar line for access to the rest of the city. We parked our pick-up in the secure lot and just walked the city for the three days and two nights we were there. That was just enough time to experience the French Quarter, and left us with more things to see on our next trip.
Vincent gave us a choice of a couple of rooms, both were very nice, with a sitting room and a pretty 4 poster in the bedroom. We stayed in the Kermit Ruffin room The rooms are mostly facing a small shared courtyard, with shady trees, small cafe tables and a nice bench swing. Decore was very nice and comfortable, with a nice ecletic mix that goes well with the sort of narrow, high ceiling rooms one would expect in New Orleans. (our other choise, the Marsellis room, was wider, and also tasetfully furnished, but didn't open directly on the courtyard) Vincent is very knowledgable about the city and gave us a personal map of his favorite resturants and bars. He really went out of his way to insure that we had a nice visit. We only had time to try a couple of his suggestions, since we were pulled to so many places, but they were very good. Breakfasts were excellent, NOLA is a city that likes its good food.
The owner (sorry, forgot his hame) was on duty the second day, cooked a very nice small breakfast, and arranged a "food tour" of the French Quarter for us, it was a walking tour through several of the resturants, with a "food history" of NOLA and a Cajun cooking demonstration. There were many nice samples of French, Creole and Cajun cuisine that the area is famous for, so if you take it, skip lunch (about $48 each for a 3 hour tour, moderate walking pace over some uneven surfaces, and plenty of opportunities to sit down)
I can honestly say this is a great place to stay, very good service and value for your money.

Room Tip: Smaller rooms are a good value, you don't go to NOLA to sit in a suite and watch the big screen...

We stayed in the Louis Henry cottage and loved it! It was spacious and comfortable. And you cannot beat the location, parking availability, courteous hosts/hostess, and delicious breakfast. We normally choose the Garden District in order to escape the Quarter crowds, but New Orleans Jazz Quarters feels just as private, but with a much better location.
