This trip was part of a Living Social package we purchased. Our stay at the Degas House was everything we hoped for. We live within 90 minutes of New Orleans and make frequent trips there. This trip allowed us to explore an area of New Orleans that we do not often have the chance to; the Esplanade Ridge neighborhood. The homes on Esplanade are beautiful and charming; some a little bit funky. We found a cluster of fun restaurants and hangouts less than a mile from Degas House.
We stayed in the "Josephine" room. It was very beautiful, with all the squeaks and creaks that one would expect in a house built in 1852. One negative note: the fitted sheet on our bed had a 4-5 inch diameter hole near the foot of the bed.
Breakfast was served in the dining room every morning. A large selection of items were available: fresh fruit, toast, bagels, coffee, juice, cereal, pastries, yogurt, omelets, etc.
We would recommend the Degas House to anyone who loves art, history, and would like to see more of New Orleans than the French Quarter.

My husband and I stayed at the Degas House as a late anniversary trip. The House is gorgeous and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Desiree room. The bed was very comfortable, and the room itself was lovely, but the tub was outstanding. It was great after long days walking the French Quarter and touring the city, to be able to soak in a whirlpool and then climb into a cozy bed.

The tour was fun and interesting. The snacks and drinks mentioned on the website are only chips, apples, and store bought butter cookies, but it's a nice touch and certainly enough to tide you over if when you're not sure when/where you're going for lunch. There may be more selection on nights when there are more than 2 guests staying. We had omelets for breakfast the first morning, and waffles and smoked sausage the next. Both were delicious and filling, we barely made room for the toast, fruit, juice, milk and coffee that were offered as well.

The city bus does stop right in front of the building, but it only takes you to the edge of the French Quarter. I suggest looking up bus routes ahead of time, especially if you are not familiar with the city, or just spring for a cab. The return trip from various parts of the Quarter cost us $6-8.

My only complaint is that we didn't get to meet any other guests during our stay, and that there was only one small trash can (small bath sized, big enough to hold 3 empty water bottles) in our room. That was fairly easy to remedy with a spare grocery sack. Over all we loved it and can't wait to go back.

My boyfriend and I were driving across the country and New Orleans was a stop we had planned because we have some friends there. We were lucky to find a Living Social deal for the Degas House right before we left on our trip. We were planning to just stay with friends, but this deal was too great to pass up!

The staff was amazing! Kelly welcomed us and gave us a much needed glass of wine after being on the road for so long. We were then escorted up to our beautiful Estelle Suite. I have never stayed in such a gorgeous room. My favorite part was the balcony! I wish we could just live there!

The breakfast was the best breakfast I have ever had at a B&B, and Lana, the cook, was so funny and accodating. We did the tour, which was so informative and interesting. Who knew Degas' family was from New Orleans? After that we met Julia, the manager, who gave us great advice on what to do around New Orleans. We especially loved Frenchman Street.

We ended up leaving after only two nights to continue our journey, but I really wish we could have stayed longer!

I was lucky to book a last minute stay at Degas House, one of the most interesting historical places in New Orleans. The two houses, side by side, are lovingly restored, with an informative tour of Degas, the family and times on lovely Esplanade Avenue. My room was huge, a comfortable bed, nice updated bathroom and good music system. The breakfast in the sunny breakfast room was wonderful, prepared and served by an elegant lady who made a delicious breakfast. It is a quiet location, near the new Musuem of Free People of Color, just down the street from some great Esplanade eating spots, on the way to City Park.
The outdoor seating area in the garden beckoned, all that was needed was more time!

The Degas House was an excellent change of pace for my wife and I this past weekend. We really enjoyed this surprisingly large historic home, and especially loved the warm breakfast that was cooked to order each morning. The staff was very friendly and ready to serve--we were offered a beer before we got past the front door. The rooms held some essential modern amenities (i.e. A/C, television) but kept the historic feel with the rest of the furniture. This combination was perfect. What really sets this house apart from other houses though is, of course, Degas. The house is filled with his paintings and sketches; the staff has even placed a sketch book and an easel in the rooms so that you can make your own masterpieces. Also there is a "Timeline Exhibit" that is currently under construction, but I cannot wait to see it in all its glory. We will definitely be back, if for no other reason than to see the finished product.

I had a great time hanging out at the Degas House. The courtyard is gorgeous and the staff could not have been more accommodating offering us complimentary beverages. The interior of the B&B is beautifully appointed and very clean. I did not have time to take a formal tour, but we will definitely do this next time we visit!

We had a fabulous time at Degas House. We were not sure what to expect, but we absolutely loved it. The staff and service were excellent. Sharon and Julia went out of their way to make sure our stay was everything we wanted. Do take the tour. We will be back. Great stay.
