The location and price drew us here, as we were in the Big Easy over St. Patrick's Day, when most other hotels were unaffordable for our budget. Positive reviews from former customers were encouraging, even though we knew the surrounding area would not be the best. Still, we felt safe, and well cared-for. Our room was neat and clean. I-10 was nearby, so we were connected to a 10-min. drive to the French Quarter, as well as conveniently located for heading toward Alabama a couple days later. Breakfast items were fine, to start the day. Front desk staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. A very pleasant housekeeper, Cathy, had a smile and friendly words to make us glad we were there.

Every one at this super 8 was fantastic. We never wanted for anything. They were courteous and extremely helpful. Tyra, at the front desk was extremely helpful and such a pleasure to be around and talk to. We felt completely safe in this motel at all times. Everything was clean and comfortable. I would stay here again any time. Cab rides to the French Quarter ran $18 to $20 each way. A Jazz Pass or a 3 day bus/trolley pass is $9. The 94/Broad bus picks up just outside the Super 8 and let off on Canal St. Take the Canal St. trolley to the Riverfront Trolley and get off on Decatur St anywhere.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms on the second floor are smoking rooms. Most of them on the third floor are non-smoking. Don't forget your parking pass.

The hotel was cool for what it was, but not all that. In other words, the hotel didn't blow me away, but it wasn't a shack either. It was good enough. The hotel room was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly. It was close to I-10 and thereby convenient to attractions such as the French Quarter. The only negatives were that the tv and bathroom appliances were outdated and the breakfast wasn't spectacular (only sweets, no salt or sour). Considering the price though, I can't complain. The previous reviews about the shadinest of the area were misleading as they made me a little apprehensive about staying at Super 8. The neighborhood was rundown; it was so rundown that no one was around. We didn't notice any homeless people or anyone else that may have been threatening. We never felt unsafe. This hotel did the job. It was cool for what it was.

We chose this location based upon trip advisor ratings and were very disappointed. Extremely dark in the room with very few lamps and very thin bed sheets. Situated in a slum type area. We would not go back to this location and do not recommend it.
