“Very good renovated hotel”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

The Inn on Ursulines has recently been refurbished and it shows. The rooms are comfortable, very clean, with good water pressure, very comfortable beds and linens. The staff was friendly and responsive and respected guests' desires for either information or privacy. The location on Ursulines between Bourbon and Royal can't be beat for convenience. As a former resident of that part of the Quarter, I was very, very impressed. Its price made it extremely competitive with stalwarts like the Andrew Jackson Hotel and the Place d'Armes: its amenities and comforts, however, blew them out of the water. I recommend it and will stay there again.

Thank you so much for the kind remarks regarding your recent stay with us. As a previous resident of the French Quarter, your feedback means so much to us as we know you could have chosen any of the FQ's hotels, as you mentioned. The fact that you felt we blew the big boys out of the water is music to our ears! Thank you again for sharing your experience with us and we look forward to having you back again upon your return to NOLA to visit your old stomping grounds!

It seems to be newly refurbished. Our room was spotless and comfortable. The location is great, accessible to everything. The staff was wonderful and even held our luggage on our last day so we could sightsee after check-out. My daughter did not want a standard hotel, but did not want a bed-and-breakfast. This hotel was wonderful and we enjoyed the authentic building with the simple, more modern room decor. The beds were very comfortable, offering a great rest after a day of sightseeing. We stayed in room 2, which opened to the street. The street noise was minimal and we got a great night's sleep and were ready for the next day. Just be aware that the room has no windows, but has two sets of double French doors and solid wood doors on the outside. It did not feel claustrophobic as we would have thought, as there is some light from the outside that comes in on through the cracks on the outer door and the room ac unit works wonderfully, as does the ceiling fan. We thought the step up to the bathroom was part of the charm of the authentic construction. We really have no complaints, it couldn't have been better.
The only suggestion I have for the management is that a chair may be nice and perhaps some hooks in the bathroom. These two items would add comfort, but the lack of them would not prevent us from coming back to this great hotel.

We are so thrilled to hear your recent stay at the Inn on Ursulines couldn't have been better! You are correct in noting the rooms have recently been renovated to include all of the modern amenities you would find in a larger chain hotel, while still maintaining the original charm and ambiance of an old New Orleans property. It sounds like we were able to appease your daughter's concerns of not wanting a B&B or a large chain hotel, but rather something in between the two. Lastly, we are pleased to hear our staff was so wonderful, as customer service is our number one priority! We truly appreciate your kind remarks and look forward to having you back again at any of our French Quarter Guest Houses properties!

It was me and my boyfriends first time in New Orleans, and we stayed at the Inn on Ursulines. It is very conveniently located being directly off of Bourbon Street, and just a short walk to Frenchman Street and the river. I liked how the rooms were situated within the courtyard because it made it feel like you were away from the craziness, without being away from the craziness! There are a bunch of great places to eat and shop all within a couple of blocks. There's also a small convenience store on the corner which came in handy. We stayed in room 32. The decor is simple, but contemporary and very clean. We didn't have the opportunity to use the hot tub during our stay because by the time we got around to getting in, it was our last night and it was closed.. Probably for cleaning. We had a speedy check-in, and everyone at the front desk was very helpful. Our last night we turned on the tv for the first time (since the hot tub was closed) and it wasn't working. Maintenance came right away, but it turned out one of the plugs was broken so he kindly offered to put us in another room. We declined, it wasn't a big deal, and didn't want to bother moving all of our stuff for one night, so he offered to try and comp one night of parking. He lived up to his word, and had it taken care of before we checked out. Really great customer service!... And the prices were awesome!

The only thing I would say that might be a little annoying for some people is that the parking lot is at another one of the Inns. It's within walking distance, and we never used our car during our stay so it didn't matter. As for loading and unloading the car, we were able to do it all right in front.

I would definitely stay at the Inn on Ursulines again!

My wife and I just visited New Orleans for our 20th wedding anniversary. We just went for a long weekend and had an absolute blast.. This Inn is perfectly located between Bourbon street and the French Market. Plenty of great food, great bars and within walking distance to all of them. The service was more than we could've expected. If you're used to the luxury's of a modern hotel, this may not be for you, but if you're just looking to have a quiet vacation with a great room and service, then you need to visit the Inn on Ursulines.

Room Tip: Room 5 was our room and it was perfect for our weekend getaway.....

We stayed at the Inn on Ursulines June 23 -26. It's a vintage building located right in the French Quarter. Like most of the buildings in the area, it is built around a central court yard, basically creating two separate buildings. Our room was on the second floor of the first building. The room was very clean and fairly spacious, particularly the bathroom. The room also had a lot of character in my opinion. There was a hearth located in the center of the room and a small nook with a desk, right under the window.

I’m normally not concerned about hotel beds because I don’t expect them to be the most comfortable, but I can honestly say this bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever stayed in. As I previously stated, the bathroom is fairly large and even has radiant (heated) flooring. It’s a nice feature but be sure to turn it off when not in use. The room as a whole can get pretty warm if you leave it on. New Orleans is hot and humid enough as is, no point in adding to it by warming up your room.

The hotel is ideally situated. You are literally never more than 2 blocks from anything; the craziness of Bourbon Street, the galleries and restaurants on Royal (definitely check out Café Amelie…great food & Blood Mary’s), live music on Frenchmen, the street cars, etc. There is even a 24 hour market one block away (great breakfast food). As far as safety, we actually walked back to our room well into the early morning (like 2am) after enjoying ourselves a little too much on Bourbon…honestly felt fairly safe. Definitely NOT saying let your guard down. However, if you had to walk back to the hotel it’s do-able. The staff was always friendly and helpful. My only complaint, which really isn’t a complaint but more of a warning is the staircase leading up to the rooms…it can be bit treacherous…stone cold sober…even more so after a few hand grenades. I would definitely stay at the Ursulines again.

Beautiful room in a great location! You have to park a bit away but it's worth it. The staff was very accommodating and kind. The rooms aren't overly spacious but who really goes to New Orleans to stay in their room the whole time? I highly recommend this hotel and will come back.

We are so pleased to hear that you not only enjoyed your stay at the Inn on Ursulines, but would return upon your next trip to New Orleans! Our sister property, the Lamothe House, offers parking directly behind the hotel, should you be interested in staying somewhere with closer parking accommodations next time. It also boasts a swimming pool and lush courtyard. None the less, we are thrilled to hear that you found your stay to be so "outstanding" and look forward to having you back again at any of our French Quarter Guest Houses properties!

Service and cleanliness here were really awesome. The bed was really comfortable. The location is really great- it is quiet; yet very close to the action- 2 blocks to Frenchman street, 2 blocks to Bourbon street, and about 4 blocks to the streetcar. The price was really decent too. Also there were nice places to sit the in the courtyard and a jacuzzi. We didn't have a problem with lack of A/C like other reviewers.

A couple of problems prevent this from being a 5 star experience: first, we didn't know that their parking lot for $20/day was full so our parking situation was pretty terrible (we drove to NOLA). It was a festival weekend. There weren't any other lots in French quarter, so we were left to move the car every 2 hours and then we could leave it 7pm-7am. The other thing was that a few of the other people staying at our resort were really loud (shouting, ice chest door slamming) at all hours. Once again it's hard to discern if this is because it's a festival weekend.

Room Tip: 2nd floor might be quieter?

Thank you for the great feedback regarding your recent stay with us over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. You are correct in noting that New Orleans, in general, can be a bit louder and festive during holiday / festival weekends. That being said, we do our best to manage any excessive noise that may be caused by guests who are staying at our property. We are pleased to hear you were able to take advantage of our private courtyard and jacuzzi and found your guestroom accommodations to be so comfortable. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced in regards to parking, as our lot does tend to fill up much quicker during holiday and festival weekends. Unfortunately parking is at a premium in New Orleans and we do our best to assist in finding alternative parking options for our guests, in the event that our lot is full (as it was when you were staying with us). Thank you again for sharing your experience with us and we hope to have you back again at any of our French Quarter Guest Houses properties!
