Of all the Hampton Inns we've stayed in, this is one of the best. The old and elegant building is centrally located downtown within walking distance to everything. The rooms are very modern, huge, very comfortable and quiet. We were there for our 6th Jazz Fest and the peace and quiet was a welcome respite from the wonderful mayhem of Jazz Fest!

Stayed at this property for a week during Jazz Fest this year. This is our 4th or 5th stay at this particular location. We have been consistently pleased with the level of service, comfort, and cleanliness that we experience at the property. Rooms are large and well furnished. We stay in a King Studio with a sofa bed. Having a small couch, fridge, and microwave is nice for a lengthy visit. The beds are comfortable, and the linens and towels are high quality. The rooms are quiet with very little audible noise from either others rooms, or the street. Housekeeping works late into the day, which is nice when you sleep in after late nights out in NOLA. The location can't be beat. Two blocks from Canal St., and on the road that turns into Bourbon once you enter the Quarter. Right on the street car line. Easily walkable to just about anywhere, and an inexpensive cab ride to areas of the city that aren't walkable. The two block walk from Canal to the hotel is a bit dark at night, and awareness of your surroundings is advised...but that's no different than the majority of the area. Only a couple of small things that in my mind could be improved: 1) I think they've changed the lighting in the bathrooms within the last couple of years. I found it to be glaringly bright, which made it hard to apply makeup. Additionally, the lights seem to get hot which at times made the bathroom uncomfortably warm. 2) I also think they've downgraded the quality of the provided toiletries over the years, moving to Neutrogena products that I don't particularly care for (easily rectified with a quick trip to the nearby CVS). 3) At least in the last two rooms that we've stayed in, there's been no real closest, just an armoire that is part of the entertainment stand. Not a big deal, but when you overpack like I do, space is at a premium, and I had to remove the ironing board and set it up in a corner of the room to have enough space for my clothes. But, they were quick to bring extra hangers upon request, which I appreciate. Again, these are tiny, tiny nits, that I share only for awareness. We love the property and the location and are already booked to return next year!

I have stayed at this hotel many times, and never had any problem. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the fridge was cold, the internet worked, valet was efficient, I have no complaints. It is very convenient, they have cookies at the reception desk, and a nice small pantry for drinks, chips, frozen dinner, etc. I didn't use the microwave, but there was one in my room.

Why 1 lonely star? The hotel is fine, the location is great, but someone at the front desk and the manager don't understand simple math, hospitality, or customer service. Initially they tried to charge us for a week when we were staying for 4 nights. OK -they're going to remove the charge. Then they tried charging THREE different amounts that the bank fortunately stopped, but they let a charge for $220 go through. We checked out and paid and have the receipt. They can't even tell us WHY they charged us an extra $220 after the fact. They LITERALLY DO NOT KNOW -but are they willing to refund it? NO. Are they offering us anything like a free night or even a discount on a future stay? NO. They've been surly, rude, and completely unhelpful. At this point I wonder if they're running some sort of scam. Sorry, Hampton Inn, but most people need a REASON for an extra $220 charge. Even corporate was no help. Oh well, they've lost two loyal Hampton Inn customers for life.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else where you won't be on the phone with the hotel, corporate and your bank for...

Located 1.5 blocks from Bourbon Street, this hotel offers a great location - close enough to quarter to walk to it, but far enough away t from the craziness of Bourbon Street. In fact, other than a quick walk through, we spent no time on Bourbon, but instead focused our attention on the quaint streets of Royal and Charte.

The hotel offers free breakfast everyday. Our room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and wiling to assist with directions and reserving a cab. The streetcar runs just out from if you are looking to go to the south end of Canal or or to the Garden District and points west.

The best part is that the price was very competitive- less expensive than some of the bigger hotels nearby.

I would definitely stay here the next year when I plan to attend Jazz Fest again.

Room Tip: We stayed on 14th floor. The only bad part was that our roon was adjacent to the fitness center so...

Just spent 3 nights in New Orleans and enjoyed my stay at the Hampton Inn Downtown. Great location near the French Quarter, and close to the Streetcar line. The Hampton Inn is in a classic building with rooms with large ceiling and nicely decorated. The Breakfast room was one of the nicest I have seen, with excellent staff and very accommodating. Had a problem with bathroom sink which could not be fixed, was offered a new room for the night at no charge!. The Hampton Inn has a Satisfaction Guarantee that can't be beat! I would definitely stay at this location again!

Room Tip: Ask for room with a view, not a back wall.

In less than two blocks one is crossing Canal Street to Bourbon without missing a beat. The trolley connecting to everywhere stops in front of the hotel, $1.25/ride. Location, location, location. Quiet rooms. Top notch breakfast. Expert valet parking. Men on the luggage moving equipment make it easy for you and will help repack your car. Responsive front desk with rescue snacks. Angel on duty posing as phone operator. Larger rooms. We'd go back in a heartbeat if I could.

Room Tip: The safe in room 506 needs a drop of oil or gentle pressure on the door to help the latch work on th...
