We had our third dinner at Grapevine last week. The service was great and the food was excellent. Their menu changes slightly. I would recommend the steamed mussels and the cheese plate. They have entrees but we always seem to just order several small plates and split them.

I went there with my wife looking for a nice and relaxed atmosphere (as a bistro should be), the food is good but it does not match with the service and the place. The waitress had a "just-want-to-go-home" attitude; the tables belong more to a brasserie rather than a bistro but the prices are as high as the top New Orleans restaurants. The cherry on the pie was: they added to the bill a 20% TIP!!! ... Remember we were only 2!!! ... When I asked the waitress about it she said that was normal in NO. Well, this was the only place they did that. Don’t waste your money, you have far better options in NO.

Grapevine is a good dining option located in the French Quarter. The food is very good with nice presentation. The service, however, is mediocre. This takes away from the quality of the food as well as the wine selection. Nonethless, I would recommend this establishment to anyone looking for good food at reasonable prices.

Visited NOLA in May 2010. Stopped in at the Orleans Grapevine Wine Bar before going offelsewhere for dinner. But after sitting at the bar, talking to the manager, observing the service and the meals that were delivered, we almost wished we had reservations here! I well done, nicely decorated, comfortable, adult haven near the madness of Bourbon Street. They have a small outoor garden area and only about 6 or 7 table inside. The quaintness of the establishment has an appealing charm and allows for atttentive, friendly service. Nice menu, good winelist, would go again next time in New Orleans.

Three weeks before my 50th birthday, we called the Orleans Grapevine asking if they would take a reservation for six people for a special birthday dinner. The maitre de explained that they dont take reservations but if we called the day of the event, they would have "no problem" accommodating us. Based on their promise and the fantastic reviews, we decided not to make reservations elsewhere and did as instructed. When we called that day, however, (with guests flying in from NY, CA, Washington, D.C., etc) the restaurant informed us that the owner was having a private party for 16 people and that they could not, would not honor their promise. Okay, things happen, but would a simple "sorrry" be asking too much? Not only was the restaurant completely non apologetic but no thought was given to trying to rectify the situation. According to the maitre de, we were just out of luck. As a result, we were left scrambling to find an alternative venue on a friday night with only hours to spare. Luckily, the staff at Irene's was fantastic. They gave us a reservation (even though that is also not their policy) and sat us promptly at seven. The food and ambiance were terrific. And the chef hand delivered a chocolate truffle torte that was heaven on earth. Go to Irenes; skip Grapevine.
