I thought this would be a tourist place since it is so close to hotels. Got there before 7 so we did not have to wait. Not crazy about the broiled fish but the gumbo, jambalaya, and crawfish entoufe rocked! Service was good, quick, and friendly. Bathroom only holds one at a time, but it was kept clean. Did not go to the bar.

Gf & I went during a vacation to NOLA. For starters, parents, Bourbon St. is probably not the place to take the kiddies. There's xxx cabaret places that stick out like a sore thumb, and you run the risk of the kiddies seeing a scantily-clad woman here and there popping out of the door way as they greet a customer. So, dinner on Bourbon St. is probably not a family affair. This place was packed during spring break 2013, but then again so was most of bourbon st. We were able to get a table pretty quick, but while the guys working the front were fun and nice, the waiter we got seemed ... off. He gave us this polite smile like he was happy to serve us, but you could tell he wasn't. Maybe they were just having a rough night from all the folks. Seems when two people order water to drink, they think they're going to be stingy on the tip I guess. Well, that just puts him in a mood where he gives us bad service, so it turns out we give him a bad tip... self-fulfilling prophecy I guess. The food was good. Gf ordered the roast beef po-boy, b/c everyone said it's supposed to be "sloppy" (w/gravy). Hers did not come sloppy, so they dropped the ball there. I ordered the taste of nola, gumbo, jambalaya, etc, plus a half order of oysters. The food was all good. We also ordered a cocktail... $10! *cough* The food was reasonably priced, but I guess they make up for it with the outrageous cocktail prices. We would definitely come back for the food, but the service and cocktail prices leave something to be desired.

Has a cute balcony. That's all I can say. Ordered the popcorn crab Caesar salad after asking our waitress how much meat is actually on the salad. After a very pained conversation, with no help in which she had no idea what the crab looked like or how much meat or whether it would be good, I decided to try anyway. Had almost no meat and was all breading which I specifically asked about. And I never got the tomatoes I requested. She even brought the wrong check. Get it together!

As a group of 7 with one vegetarian, we struggled when walking through the French Quarter to find restaurants that would provide more than a salad to the vegetarian. La Bayou was a pleasant surprise and they happily made a vegetarian version of the muffaletta sandwich with friend green tomatoes instead of the traditional meats. It was the only example we found of a restaurant willing to take some of their menu items and make them veg friendly while still maintaining some of that unique NOLA food.

Everyone else enjoyed their entrees - traditional muffaletta, gumbo, sampler platter, oysters.
