Can't be more satisfied. An exceptional B&B. Cozy, charming rooms and pretty courtyard. Great NOLA ambiance and extraordinary, accommodating, friendly staff. The location has interesting history - ask about the bordello - and awesome creole sausage for breakfast from Ms. Annie. She was a highlight of the stay for sure. Wish we could have had one of the famous carriage house jams, too cold this stay though. Easy access to all of the tourist destinations by walking or cable-car. My kids loved it! Wish we could have stayed longer. Also, pet friendly! My family will definitely return as often as possible. Thanks for making our vacation memorable!

It was such a pleasure having your entire family stay this time around!!! It's guests like yall that really make my job a pleasure! It's funny that you mention Ms Annie's playing records because at this very moment she is setting up her player in the warehouse and preparing for a dinner party tomorrow night! I know she enjoyed your company as much as we did! Hope your stay was a memorable for you all as it was for us!!!

Just left this guesthouse, but I'll definitely return. The staff here is amazing! Considering this is not a "5 star" hotel, the negative reviews I've read are unwaranted. For a small guesthouse to take such care and concern about their guests is almost unheard of. I felt welcomed from the start, my room was amazing, and any concerns or issues I had were addressed right away.
The most amazing thing about Creole Gardens is Annie, the cook. who served up delicious, satisfying breakfasts every day, along with taking time to mingle with and get to know her guests. Her calm attitude, and stories of NOLA, her musical background, and genuiwine love of her job made my vacation an incredible experience.
The location is great, near the St. Chrles trolley and terrific restaurants, the price & value are incredible, and the guests are made to feel like family. I will definitely be coming back!

Thanks so much for the positive feedback Nanetta!!! It's really nice to hear such appreciation for the entire staff and property! We really wish you cold have stayed another night as Annie is currently in the process of setting up her record player and some speakers in our event space so that we can jam to some old R&B on vinyl!! So excited! My only complaint is that you aren't still here to enjoy with us!! I'll make sure to give Annie a special shout out so she knows how much her friendly banter meant to you while you visited! Come back soon!

Creole Gardens is a perfect mix of that old New Orleans charm and modern amenities. Excellent hospitality & service, great location. If you want a real 'New Orleans Experience', go see the good folks at The Creole Gardens.

I have relied on TripAdvisor ratings to choose my hotels while traveling all over the world. However, I have never been more compelled to write a review before. The fact that this place is rated 4.5 stars is SHOCKING to me. It is a DIRTY, run-down Bed and Breakfast. The walls, blinds and floors were filthy. The bed was uncomfortable, sunken in and SQUEAKED upon every little move. My fiancee and I spent an entire night awake tossing and turning. This is the type of place I'd be worried about bugs. If we had any other choice, we would have sought out a different accommodation, but everything was extremely expensive due to the VooDoo Festival. Breakfast was very low quality, and we found ourselves eating out instead of taking advantage of it.

Only pros:
Staff was very friendly and nice, and not overbearing.
Location: 1 block away from the St. Charles Street Car, but area was definitely SEEDY!

Room Tip: Don't stay here!

Thank you for the feedback. Our goal at the Creole Gardens is to offer comfortable, safe, clean and affordable accommodations for visitors or locals to stay and experience what New Orleans really is and has to offer. We are different from most other hotels in that we are cluster of historic antebellum houses. We realize that our 1840’s era buildings (some of which are still being restored) are far from perfect, but honestly, we are offended that this guest has insulted all the previous reviewers by calling their credibility into question. That being said, we are so sorry that this guest was unhappy with their stay and we promise to use their input as a challenge to make improvements.
>
> If only these guests (who had been given an extremely low rate through a third party, almost half of the rate that everyone else was paying) had mentioned that they were unhappy at any point during their five night stay---or even at check out when we asked them again how they had enjoyed themselves, it would have given us an opportunity to address anything. In retrospect, we realize they must have been dissatisfied with something since they didn't leave a cent for the housekeepers, who had completely serviced their room four times, each day of their stay.
>
Most guests rave about how comfortable they find our beds! Our other guests this sold out weekend definitely appeared to enjoy our hot breakfast, which included eggs, grits and pancakes with bananas from our very own banana tree (by the way we hope this guest realizes that by law New Orleans Bed and Breakfasts are NOT permitted to serve hot food –we can, since we're actually a small hotel).
>>
> We are in the historic lower Garden District, sitting between the streets of Melpomene, the Muse of Tragedy, and Thalia, the Muse of Comedy, and there isn't a day that goes by without us thinking how Barthelemy Lafon, the noted Creole architect and city planner/pirate and smuggler (yes, that’s New Orleans!) who laid out our neighborhood from plantation land two centuries ago may have somehow intuited the poetic absurd-ism of our daily lives so many years on. Most people like our central and convenient location--around the corner from one of Emeril’s restaurants, a block from St. Charles Avenue and the streetcars, a ten minute stroll to the museums and Convention Center, nestled in a neighborhood of both mansions (and movie stars) and housing for more ordinary folks, half a minute to a park that looks like it was lifted out of bucolic England. When Utne Reader rated our area the “hippest neighborhood in North America” some years back, people who know and love New Orleans nodded in agreement. New Orleans isn't sanitized; it’s authentic and colorful and vibrant and the true traveler gets that. We are not for everyone---we respect those who would prefer to stay in a big box hotel. But we like to think that in our own small way, Creole Gardens is a microcosm of New Orleans and we welcome and thank all our past, present and future travelers for appreciating this weird, wonderful town ----and us.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a few days over the weekend. Super cute place, lots of character, staff was friendly, breakfast was the bomb! It's in a great location- right around the corner from Voodoo BBQ, Avenue Pub, and the Trolley. Our room was spacious and (for the most part) clean. The shower was very clean, which is a big deal to me. The outside of the building looked a little rough, but that's just because it's an old building and New Orleans has been through a lot. We'll be back!

Kathy, Keith, Karen & Steve...thanks for making our trip SO MUCH FUN!! We stayed in Cottage 1 and although we are not handicapped, the bath was roomy which was GREAT & always had clean towels. (just needed a full length mirror) The staircase became invaluable for storage of suitcases & purchases. (#1 can be shared with #4 above, we did not) Room has lots of color and light leading to courtyard. Super friendly and courteous staff!! Ann cooked breakfast & was a real treat!! Loved the main courtyard which became our "resting place". Good location to get away from hustle of downtown but close to trolley and easy access to most any area. Super stay with awesome friends and lots of oysters....great combination! Thanks Creole Gardens Staff!!!

Room Tip: Lots of great restaurants nearby but our favorite was Blind Pelican!! Super Consignment Shop about...

I found this place randomly on the internet for a friends weekend away. It was just so much more fun than being in a modern hotel and a great rate too. Great location if you don't mind a 10 min trolley ride to Canal St. Decent showers, plenty of towels and a staff that are just so helpful and friendly. Cathy was our first face of the place and all the other crew continued her delightful approach. We just loved the fact that we could hang around the garden with our friends and relax. Breakfast good. We would definitely come back next time we're in NO.....I got so many brownie points from my friends for finding this place!

Room Tip: room number 1 has a huge bathroom and interconnects with the one up stairs if need be.
