When events force you to have to move suddenly 2000 miles across the country, the last thing you need to worry about is where you will stay. I consider myself very lucky to have found the Creole Gardens. I stayed for more than two weeks while I was searchnig for an apartment. The staff was wonderful, from Uly the manager and Annie, the delightful lady that served our breakfasts, to Andrea and Rachel the office staff, everyone went out of their way to provide a stellar level of service. I plan to recommend them to any and all of my friends who want to visit in the future. Breakfasts were a time of gathering where everyone would come down and join in the group conversation, listening to soft jazz, sipping Annie's great coffee (better than Starbucks) and eating a filling southern-style breakfast. Absolutely top notch!

Our room in the Bordello Annex turned out to be pretty bad. Just look at the pictures. We weren't really comfortable either (as another reviewer stated). There was no phone in the room (although the website claims all rooms do), there was no ironing board (irons and blowdryers are available), the towels were thin, and storage was minimal (see picture). OVerall, the room was on the dirty side. This was Bordello #1...I don't know what condition the other Bordello rooms were in.

To their credit though, the staff at the Creole Gardens was always courteous and helpful. Annie was great in the kitchen, cooking up meals for guests dragging themselves out of bed after the 11AM breakfast cutoff. We got a chance to peek into some of the cottages and those rooms seemed perfectly fine. We did not see any of the rooms in the Mansion, but we heard those were ok too, aside from the ghosts. Yes, apparently this place is haunted.

Walk to the Quarter is about 20 minutes.

It seems good help is tough to come by these days in New Orleans and perhaps this is the reason behind the condition of the room.

Bottom line: Stay in the cottages.
