Frenchmen St is awesome. Tons of live music and an older crowd then Bourbon, which is a good thing. Loved the courtyard pool and sitting area. Nice place to unwind and chat with fellow travellers after a long hot day exploring the Big Easy. Our room was small (like a European hotel room) but nice. Plumbing was a little quirky (toilet would run, sink was slow to drain, shower pressure inconsistent pressure and temp), but that didn't take away from the charm of the property. The A/C units are also loud. However, the bed was brand new and very comfortable. We were rarely in our room so not a big issue for us. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Owner had a BBQ on the rooftop patio and invited us which was great. We had delicious craw dads which was one of our favourite culinary experiences. Free continental breakfast each day was a nice surprise. Location is right next door to French Quarter so you can walk to a lot of attractions very easily. The street is noisy at night so bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. This is N'Awlins after all. Would stay here again for sure.

Room Tip: 2nd floor courtyard room above pool more quiet. You don't want a room on the street due to noise...

We loved our boutique hotel - Very clean, comfortable bed, great shower, within walking distance to everything, great breakfast included (cereals, yogurts, juices, coffee, fruit)....just great value. If you want room service and modern amenities then a chain hotel is for you and you should leave the Frenchmen for those of us who will appreciate it. We sure did! And did I mention the swimming pool...small but nice and warm....very appreciated at the end of the day? cleaning staff very friendly and did a great job. the only area we found lacking is the young reception clerks - not very friendly but did answer our questions. Also did not know how to answer incoming calls. in regards to noise after 10... Well, we like to hear others enjoy themselves and the beds are so comfortable and you are so tired from walking and eating so much great food that we just drifted off to a wonderful sleep. Will definitely return to the Frenchmen if we get the opportunity!

Bottom line: Love the Frenchmen Hotel.

Just got back from New Orleans after staying at the Frenchmen for almost a week.

If you are looking for a typical soul-less chain hotel/motel don't stay here.
If you are looking for a luxury hotel, don’t stay here.
If you expect absolute quiet after 10 pm, don’t stay here.
If it makes you nervous to stay in, what some would consider, a ‘funky’ hotel, don’t stay here.

Stay here if you want to stay outside of the FQ (but within easy walking distance) and you appreciate great music clubs, some outstanding restaurants within blocks and would like some night life going on that doesn't have the intensity of Bourbon Street.

Staff is outstanding – helpful, courteous, friendly and knowledgeable of the neighborhood from the top down! Owner threw a crawfish boil on Saturday night, free for all guests, employees and family. 1st time eating crawfish, loved it!
Rooms are clean, beds are great (wife was impressed with the pillows and she’s somewhat fussy). Rooms are colorful, have funky artwork and more than adequate for most needs.
Wonderful pool & hot tub, great for a quick dip.

We attended Jazzfest Friday and Saturday, and it is walk-able from the Frenchmen (about a 45 minute walk at a good pace).

Downside: it can be noisy. There are some homeless that hit you up for spare change. It happens. It also happens in the city I’m from. Not a big deal, never felt afraid to be on the street at all, and I’m in my 50’s (but I've been told I am young at heart).

Thank you so much for taking the time to write. We appreciate it. We're happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. It is quite the description you've given us and we couldn't be happier with it. That said we have to make one correction. We don't actually have a hot tub. We have a heated Jacuzzi and we would love to see you back real to use it. Thank you again. Extremely nice of you.

My friend and I spent a week at the Frenchmen Hotel. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like we were family. Our room was nice, #108 in the back near the pool and courtyard so it was quiet at night. The bed was very comfortable! Nice shower too! We arrived very late at night but RJ was there to help us get settled. Each morning there is great coffee, bagels, yogurt, toast, cereal, milk and orange juice until 10:30. There are cold bottles of water available as well. This meant we could get a bit of nourishment before starting out on a day of sightseeing. There was also hot water, tea, hot cocoa available all the time, which came in handy after a long day. Kinesha is just the sweetest, most bubbly person ever. She gave you the feeling that she was your long-lost cousin. The pool and spa was very nice too. Everyone there was especially accommodating -- printed our boarding passes, called us a cab, gave us suggestions as to where to eat, RJ even fashioned a handle out of tape so my friend could carry a painting home on the plane. The location is superb! Frenchmen Street is the location of so many talented artists and musicians. It was so much fun to just walk down the street to visit four or five clubs to listen to great music! It is also a short walk to the center of the French Quarter and is very close to the Riverfront Street Car. If you are the type of person that loves the Sheraton or Hilton, this is not for you. But if you want a clean, funky little hotel with great people in a terrific location, this is for you. By the way, did I mention the coffee is great??? Thank you to all the staff at the Frenchmen Hotel! We plan to come back!

Room Tip: The rooms in the back are quieter but falling asleep to New Orleans music is not too bad!

We stayed here with friends over the Easter holiday and were very happy with our choice. This small hotel is directly across the street from the start of three blocks of some of the best music and jazz in the city. But it's also on the edge of the French Quarter so is easily accessible by foot to Decatur, Bourbon and Royal Streets. Our room was VERY dark so slept deeply each night. You can hear the music from the jazz clubs -- but not so loud as to keep you awake. Our room and bath both were small (no chair) but were clearly recently renovated. It was nice to sit outside near the small pool. The front desk was very accommodating and pleasant. Breakfast was simple - cereals, rolls, coffee and juice, but if you want more for breakfast, go to Cafe Envie one block away on Decatur. Has good coffee, and I had a delicious asparagus and prosciutto omelet.

Room Tip: rooms go from front to back -- room 101 is closest to the street so ask for a room toward the back o...

Thank you so much for taking the time to write. We love hearing from our guests. We're happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Envie truly is a great cup of coffee. The next time you're in town you should try one of the Pannini. They are quite good. We're looking forward to seeing you again soon.

The Frenchmarket is 5mins away if that from the hotel and about a 10-15min max walk to the best place on earth BOURBON STREET! never stops NEW ORLEANS IS WONDERFUL will be back in 2019 and will be staying here again!

The staff are very helpful and always there if you need assistance the room is cleaned everyday the cleaners are always knocking to see if you would like room service!

I was given a free room upgrade on arrival by the lovley young lady on reception and me and my aunt were very appreciative it's not a bad way to start the trip :)

If you're thinking of booking then do it, it's everything you really need in New Orleans and best of all it's affordable!
