Reviewed April 23, 2014

This was my fifth stay at The Frenchmen and it just gets better every time. Stayed mid March and had the BEST time! The staff was wonderful, the room was dark & quiet, the bed was SO comfy, I slept like a rock! The location can't be beat, I'll keep going back for more.

LATE REVIEW:
Stayed at the Frenchmen from 31st March/8th April with my aunt we was travelled all the way from Liverpool,England for WWE WRESTLEMANIA and the hotel itself It ticked all the boxes great location situated on Frenchmen Street were all the Locals hangout whom by the way are very friendly and informative people!
The Frenchmarket is 5mins away if that from the hotel and about a 10-15min max walk to the best place on earth BOURBON STREET! never stops NEW ORLEANS IS WONDERFUL will be back in 2019 and will be staying here again!

The staff are very helpful and always there if you need assistance the room is cleaned everyday the cleaners are always knocking to see if you would like room service!

I was given a free room upgrade on arrival by the lovley young lady on reception and me and my aunt were very appreciative it's not a bad way to start the trip :)

If you're thinking of booking then do it, it's everything you really need in New Orleans and best of all it's affordable!

We stayed there April 17-20 and had the best experience. We had Room 204 with a private balcony overlooking Frenchmen Street. Our room was clean and beautiful and quite spacious with a very comfortable king size bed. We spent a great deal of our time in the Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods so this hotel was perfect for us. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The charming courtyard and heated swimming pool were divine, and the whole place was very romantic. The coffee in the morning was really tasty. There is no better place to stay if you want an authentic NO experience, and I will absolutely be coming back!

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are small, but who cares when you will only be there to shower and rest on the com...

Stayed 4-7 thru 4-11. The Frenchmen was better than imagined. Clean, comfortable room with great character. Staff were wonderful especially Kenesha and RJ. All staff were friendly and very down to earth including desk, room cleaners, and maintenance. You'd be crazy to not love this place! It felt like we were part of the neighborhood. Close to French Quarter activities and right on Frenchmen Street for great food and music, 24/7. No way I could say ANYTHING negative about the Frenchmen, those that did must be whiners. We were thrilled to be there and can't imagine staying anywhere else in NOLA. I joined trip advisor specifically so I could give the Frenchmen a thumbs up. We hope to be back again. Enjoy your VT maple syrup!

Room Tip: We stayed by the pool, street might be noisier but you can sleep when you get home. A clean, comfor...

We stayed in late March, but tried to book on Halloween night. Don't bother trying to book anything in the French Quarter on Halloween night - it's celebrated just as much as Mardi Gras. I eventually gave up on the overworked desk staff and booked online.

At the last minute, we were able to add an extra day to our trip, so called the hotel and they had one room left - but it was considerably more expensive than the one we originally booked. We went ahead and booked the more expensive room for the one night.

My confirmation email arrived as we were already en route to the hotel and stated that the price would be for the expensive room for both nights. One phone call got that fixed.

Parking: It's $30 per night to park, space is very limited (six cars and they better be small cars, too). If you're driving an Escalade or a Tahoe, don't bother. We had a little trouble getting our Kia Rio into and out of the lot.

The hotel itself is pretty cool. It's also pretty old. So yes, you get the old-school charm and decor, but you also get the prehistoric plumbing. No water pressure and extreme variables in water temperature. You want state-of-the-art plumbing? Go to the Marriott.

We were right on Decatur Street, which by itself had a great little blues club. We were within easy walking distance of Bourbon Street, Frenchmen Street (which is way better), and the Mississippi River Bank.

Our "expensive" room claimed to sleep four. Uh, no. That futon would never sleep two grown adults - maybe two small kids. A third adult would honestly be more comfortable spooning with the other two adults in the queen bed.

I can't tell how gorgeous this place is - look at the pics. It looks exactly like that. It's really incredible. The pool was warm, the hot tub was the same temperature. I believe the staff was working on that during our stay (they did mention the hot tub wasn't very hot).

The best were incredibly luxurious and comfortable (both rooms). The pillows were plentiful and fluffy - heavenly. We were provided upscale soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. We also had the biggest, fluffiest towels I've ever seen in a hotel. We had no trouble sleeping at all. Sure, it's the French Quarter and there is outside noise. But stay at the Marriott when the youth soccer league is there and tell me about the noise level! You can't sound-proof a hotel. I'd rather hear the ambient sounds of the late-night partiers and the blues emanating from the local clubs any day.

Anyway, we were very satisfied with our stay there and would stay again.

On a side note, there is no elevator and to get anywhere involves stairs - it is not handicapped accessible at all.

Room Tip: You get what you pay for, want a great view? Get a more expensive room. If you're picky, call...

Lisa, thank you for taking the time to write. We appreciate it. It is good to hear that you liked the accommodations. Just to clarify though, we are actually on Frenchmen St. Decater and Frenchmen is the Music Factory. Couldn't agree more about the youth soccer league situation. We hope to see you again very soon.

Stayed from 4/3-4/6 upon check in Keneesha (sp) was bombarded with our large party of 11 guests. She greeted us with a huge smile and got us all set up with our rooms. We loved our room 200, with its great balcony. It is loud at night but who really comes to New Orleans and expects to sleep. We enjoyed the pool and our stay. I would definetly stay here again.

Great location. Friendly staff. Heated pool. Loved it! Stated here for a stay cation when family took over our house and was a perfect place to stay even for a local. Even though on a busy street inside remains very quiet.

Rachel, thank you so much for taking the time to comment. It is always appreciated. Hope the family was good to your home while you were staying with us. Maybe you shouldn't tell THEM how much you fun you had or the next time they come into town they may end up staying here instead of you. Either way would be splendid. Again, thanks.
