“AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

My fiance and I stayed at the Frenchmen from Dec.29-Jan.3 for NYE and the Sugar Bowl. From the moment we walked through the door, everything was absolutely perfect! It is an old house turned into a boutique hotel. We had a room with a balcony facing Frenchmen St. The ONLY negative was that the bar across the street jammed until 5 am! It is a great place with awesome music, but its not so awesome when you are trying to get a good sleep. We didn't even think about that, however it wasn't TOO bad. (The balcony was worth it!) Very charming, bed was very comfortable, and everything was nice and clean. Frenchmen St. has fabulous little bars and restaurants, and everything is within walking distance from the hotel. There is a nice little pool and hot tub. The hotel itself is very quiet. We will DEFINITELY be back!!! And to add what the others have said before me, the manager Kenesha is the BOMB!! We needed our Sugar Bowl tickets printed, and she let us use the hotels printer so we wouldn't have to deal with it at the game.

Room Tip: If you want to sleep and get some rest, request a room in the back of the hotel. If you are there t...

When arriving at the Frenchmen Hotel we were very upset ,due to the non updated information on our room. But Kenesha Green stepped in and made all our reservations right! Thank-you kenesha.......you made our New Years celebration wonderful........The hotel itself is so clean and the ladies who take care of the rooms were great! Will we stay there again? YES!.......

Room Tip: balcony room a must!

I stayed 3 nights Dec 28 - Jan 1. After the first night I asked to be moved farther from the street to get less noise after midnight. At first I was happy back around the pool. But I forgot that people would be taking a hot tub and talking... no sleep. So I politely asked to cancel my 3rd night and the Manager, Kenesha, resolved everything perfectly. She upgraded me to a room upstairs, number 210... way back from the street and upstairs. Slept well even on New Year's Eve... amazing.. Anyway... the location on Frenchmen street means you can walk to a dozen bars and restaurants and eat well, hear great music.... no cab needed.. no car needed.

I checked in with a very friendly smiling front desk agent who gave me lots of great local information. She directed me to my room and gave information about hotel. As I walked to room I fell in love with this beautiful old world property. The courtyard was very lovely and my room was just off the courtyard. I loved the room as I was able to take 3 steps to the hot tub!!! Enjoyed a nice relaxing afternoon on the rooftop patio over the secure parking area! A must stay for any traveler.

Room Tip: Lots of near by jazz clubs so get rooms toward the back. I was in 108!

We go to Nola about four times a year and love trying out a new hotel, and were so glad we did with this one! To start the location of this hotel is awesome it is at the far end of the quarter close to the French market, river and TONS of awesome restaurants and bars. You are just a few blocks from Bourbon Street, but about 10 blocks away from the actual 'action' the residential area of Bourbon is what you will walk through on your trip from the hotel to the bars on Bourbon. The walk itself isn't bad, and safe enough to walk anytime of night. Where you will really cash in on location is if you are wanting to spend time in the Marigny, this is a more chilled party crowd area, less chaotic tourists, more locals and Nola experts who know how cool this area is, and the Frenchman hotel is smack in the center of it. We had a balcony on Frenchman street and could listen to music and watch the action from there, it was great, keep in mind the music and party lasts until the wee hours so if you are trying for sleep and a light sleep request a room in the courtyard or inside the main building of the hotel we had friends in those rooms who said they barely heard any street noise besides an occasional fire truck (the station is literally across the street from the hotel).
This hotel is a true landmark hotel built in the 1800's with period decor or pieces in many of the rooms, but with all the modern amenities you would expect and a very comfy bed! We saw 4 rooms while we stayed they were all clean and comfy ( however the double bed rooms were very tiny so if you like large rooms get a suite or at least queen room. We had king suite which had nearly a full kitchen, giant fridge (great to keep road beers cold, remember you can walk around everywhere in this town with a beverage so be prepared) the room was giant, we could have had another couple share with us, if they didn't mind sleeping on what we were told was a comfy pullout couch (one of our friends got locked out of his own room so actually slept on it lol).
The staff was awesome, I think the most friendly in any of the hotels we have stayed in this city, so warm, welcoming, and willing to help however they could! Also very laid back, we had an incident with one of our friends accidentally breaking a window and they were so cool about it and it was very inexpensive to pay for and replace $50.
The pool in the courtyard is small as is the hot tub but they do the job for the end of the night cool off or warm up, and it's awesome to find a hotel with these amenities open 24 hours a day!
Overall awesome stay, we will be back our next trip to this hotel. Party atmosphere but not annoying first time amateur party people! Amazing live music and food in the Marigny I would highly recommend staying in this area especially if you have stayed in other New Orleans hotels in the past, this was my favorite experience with a hotel so far:-)

Room Tip: Remember if you want a quieter room ask for one on the inside, if you want the party atmosphere get...

we stay here every year on our annual group trip & always enjoy it. being right on frenchmen st. with all the music & food is great. we were told that it has been sold & that improvements will be made -- hooks in the bathroom would be nice. we just hope the quaintness is not destroyed & that the prices don't go way up. it is fine, just the way it is & hope we will continue to be able to afford to stay here. thanks to all the great staff!

Absolutely love this hotel. It is not for someone that wants quiet. I went to bed with the sound of a trumpet and the noise of people having a good time in a wonderful city. This last stay was the second time for my husband and I to stay at The Frenchmen. We travel to New Orleans with a group of people every year to attend a Saints game. This is the second year that all of us stayed at The Frenchmen and we will continue to stay there as long as they will let us. It is in walking distance to everything. We even walked to the Dome and back.

Room Tip: The rooms are fairly small with very small bathrooms.
