“Hidden gem...”
Reviewed August 28, 2011

The Chimes was a quiet, quaint hide-away from the crowds in the French Quarter. However, the hustle and bustle was only minutes away because of the inn's location near the St. Charles streetcar line. Best of both worlds. The bed was comfy. The courtyard all rooms open to was a shady oasis. If you stay at B&B's to indulge in a big, hearty breakfast then you'll be disappointed here. Coffee, fruit, pastries, and cheese were the standard fare.

My daughter and I recently stayed at the Chimes B&B and they went out of their way to make us feel at home. They made a special exception to allow my infant daughter to stay there and were very helpful in making sure we were comfortable. Jill was so sweet and I loved spending the morning with her in the kitchen while she prepared breakfast. She is very warm and makes you feel like you've been friends for years. I would definitely stay at the Chimes again next time I'm in NOLA.

As a newbie to NOLA booking our stay at The Chimes did not disappoint. It truly lived up to its reputation. The location is great, situated in a beautiful residential neighborhood but within walking distance to some fine restaurant, interesting shops and historical points of interest. The street car is just a few short blocks away and with an unlimited Jazzy pass commuting into the city was a breeze. The rooms are very well appointed and spotless, the bed comfy and the setting is just lovely. Breakfast every morning was grand, plenty of fresh fruit, fresh juices, cheeses, baguettes, fresh baked pastries and good coffee. Breakfast is a highlight for me, sitting at a communal large table it gives you the chance to interact with other guests and of course your host, Jill. Jill is a wealth of information, anything from restaurant recommendations to which jazz clubs are a must plus she has countless other ideas and suggestions all of which to make your stay a memorable one. I plan to return the same time next year and would highly recommend this charming B&B.

The BEST place to stay in the Garden District! Actually: THE BEST place to stay in all of New Orleans! Hands down, Jill and Charles go above and beyond to meet all guests' needs and each have such delightful personalities. It's my #1 home away from home when traveling to Louisiana. Great for all types: romantic get away, girls weekend, family vacation, and business. Highly recommend!

I am from New Orleans and love to stay at the Chimes when I come home. The location is fantastic. The architecture and décor are very attractive without being pretentious. The owners have used authentic materials in all of the rooms, including beautiful cypress doors. Our room had been repainted last year, but I had stayed there previously and am not sure why they needed to redo anything as it was already in very good condition. The fixtures are not “ancient” and do not have separate taps. There are separate knobs for hot and cold (which is hardly the same thing) and that is a design choice that is appropriate to the period of the décor.

The rooms are not huge but I would not expect a huge suite given the low cost (yes, low). I have spent a lot more for less at the Holiday Inn. I also find the rooms to be extremely clean. I do admit that I have never even seen or killed a bug there and, even if I had, would not have been obnoxious enough to leave it for someone else to clean up (and certainly would not admit it if I did).

The owners are very friendly and bend over backwards to insure that you have a wonderful stay. Breakfast is excellent and the conversation stimulating. I often found it difficult to get up and start the day because I enjoyed meeting the other guests and learning about where they come from and what things they had seen and done the day before. That being said, no one is forced to participate in the conversation. An effort is made to include everyone but, if you do not care to be participate, that is respected.

I have traveled extensively all over the world, from major cities to small native villages. I find the Chimes a wonderful place to stay. The large number of corporate regulars and return guests speaks for itself.

Stayed at Chimes for one night. The owner, Jill walked us though the house, which includes a breakfasting room for all guests, into a beautiful large courtyard, which we crossed to get to room number 3. The room was well stocked with amenities, and has two doors: courtyard and front facing. Access to a refrigerator where wine and beer can be purchased or your takeout can be stored is right outside. The breakfast was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One often enters a hotel room with some trepidation, hopeing the room will
somewhat resemble the photos viewed on line. All the positive reviews I read, came to life with amazing accuracy( by the way, I totally disagree with the only negative one) Our room # 5 was small but very adequate, with lots of attention to details.Only spent a night here but will definately make this our rest spot when we return to NoLA!!
