The hotel itself is a little dated but clean and well kept. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location was quiet and close to Tulane and the restaurants on Magazine St. Breakfast was typical for a hotel. Parking in a secured lot right behind the hotel. All in all I felt we got a good value and enjoyed it enough tok go back again. The only con was I couldn't open the windows in my room only in the bathroom window. Not everyone prefers ac over fresh air when the weather is nice. I wish they'd make it so you could open the windows at least part way.

We stayed at the Best Western Plus St Charles St. In New Orleans What a treat that was. Starting with the concierge giving us a great recommendation for a terrific place to eat within walking distance. A fter that we had a most peaceful sleep on the third floor. The breakfasts were good, the cookies in the evening hot and went well with the tea.
The location was great. The street car runs right down St. Charles St. all the way to Burbon St. No need for a car even. Great time in New Orleans the hotel is a few blocks away from Magazine St.

Room Tip: Upper floors would be a good idea because they do have a fantastic restaurant on the main floor. So...

This isn't your typical 5-star review, but we had such a good experience I bumped it up a bit. It's no different than your regular Best Western Plus in terms of the hotel itself. Which is to say that it's one of the nicer chain / good value hotels. The breakfast was good, room comfortable, everything clean, etc. No problem at all with the hotel. That said, it isn't a 5 star fancy hotel. Here's why it gets 5 stars in my book.

1) Bang-for-the buck. Really great hotel for the price here. There were a lot of other really expensive options and I'm really glad we're here. A friend of ours from New Orleans picked it for us and we couldn't be happier.

2) Location. It's in a really nice neighborhood called The Garden District. It's a beautiful neighborhood with a TON of amazing architecture and classic homes. It's also close to some pretty great restaurants (walking distance) on Magazine street. The trolley line is directly in front of the hotel. This goes all the way into New Orleans / French Quarter to the right and to Tulane and the other Universities to the left. The trolley is $3 for an all-day pass. Awesome value!

3) Safety. I was a bit freaked out by all the negative reviews of safety in violence in New Orleans before the trip. While there are bad neighborhoods in N.O this isn't one of them. It's one of the nicest in the city. We felt safe at all times and went on a lot of walks to explore the area.

4) Staff. They were great! Super friendly and accommodating. Really went above and beyond to make a wonderful stay for us.

You really couldn't do much better in my opinion for a bang-for-the-buck hotel if you're visiting New Orleans.

Having spent the night in Pensacola we set off early to drive the couple of hundred miles to New Orleans. Kim knew that the St Charles in was near the garden district, what I didn't realise how nice the area was. The Street car stops nearly outside the hotel and the set price of $1.25 is a bargain and a great ride for the 2.5 miles trip to Canal St, the street car stops directly across from Bourbon St the heart of the French quarter.
The St Charles Inn is therefore a great place to stay as a base while exploring NO, our room had the benefit of having 2 windows, the breakfast was good and the staff friendly. If I ever return would not hesitate to stay in this hotel again.

This part of NO has limited choices, but we needed to stay close to Tulane. The hotel staff is nice and the hotel is perfectly located near Garden District, but it is very average inside. Building is old and needs updating. Wall unit a/c for example. Overall, it has a nice feeling to it and is attached to the Superior Grill, which has good Mexican food and bar.

Located a trolley ride away from downtown in the lovely Garden District. Trolley stops out front. Friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Can be noisy if room is on St Charles St due to trollies, but this did not bother us.
