“Pretty Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2013

With all that talk about this hotel being haunted, I was a little worried about staying here. Thankfully there were no hauntings and our stay was very good. The hotel itself is pretty dated and may not have the amenities of a luxury hotel, but it definitely had its own rustic charm. The courtyard was really pretty and looked just like the pictures, it's great place to sit and relax when the weather's nice. The staff were pretty friendly and the free breakfast was not bad. The location was excellent. I loved it that it was right next to Jackson Square and just a short walk from Bourbon Street and Cafe Du Monde!

The only thing you might want to look out for when booking is the type of room you're getting. The interior rooms have no windows and can be a little claustrophobic. The balcony and courtyard rooms looked very nice though. So if you're looking to spend a lot of time at the hotel for some reason, you might want to spend a little more and book a nicer room with windows!

Room Tip: Don't get the rooms by the ice machine, it's pretty noisy.

Very quiet yet close to everything. Rustic but comfortable and updated. Not a modern hotel but full of character and a welcome surprise. We drive a very large vehicle and I was a little concerned but they took care of it. Get everything you need out of your car before you hand over the keys! We will return.

Room Tip: We stayed in a courtyard room which I recommend.

My daughter and I (age 7) do an overnight trip somewhere every year, just the two of us. This year we decided on a staycation in NOLA (we don't live far). We arrived early to check in and the woman at the desk said she had a room available early. We had requested a king size interior room and got a deal (it was a tuesday). When the bellman brought us to the room it had a large living room, wet bar and separate bedroom. There was a tiny window down a few steps, my daughter loved the "secret window." Breakfast the next morning was a small continental type, which was a perfect way to start the morning. We were out and about by 8 am, seeing the FQ before it wakes up-which is my favorite time of day. The location is perfect, less then a block from Jackson square and Cafe Du Monde. A short walk to anything we were going to see. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. The only small thing we noticed were the lamps hadn't been dusted, maybe ever. There was a thick layer of dust/lint that we picked up in a sheet off the ornate bedside lamp and immediately started sneezing. But that isn't worth dropping a rating, everything else was super clean and nice.

Room Tip: 410 is down a small hallway away from the elevator, there is only one other room right next to it so...

The best thing about this place was it's location. It was centrally located to anywhere you would want to go in New Orleans. Just a couple of blocks from Bourbon Street, the same for the French market... and perfect for just wandering around the French Quarter. The room was small and oddly shaped, but comfortable and clean, though the television could have been a LOT newer. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bad thing was the breakfast - at the price of this place, I would have expected a real breakfast instead of coffee, orange juice and terrible store bought pastries (the kind you would buy in bulk from Sam's or Costco's). I have stayed in plenty of B&Bs, but this breakfast was the worst I have ever had, which meant we had to pay extra money for a decent breakfast elsewhere. Otherwise, a good experience.

Room Tip: have no idea which rooms would be best.

Our room was outstanding in every way! Being in the heart of the French Quarter was convenient, yet quiet. We walked to dinner and to have drinks with friends. The staff was friendly, courteous and very helpful. This is the place to stay in the Quarter!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with windows and you'll have a great view of the action.

This place did not disappoint us! It is near everything and from the moment you get there the staff makes you feel welcomed. We arrived early and they held our luggage and vehicle until room was available. We went on our merry way and visited the city and arrived back to Hotel and checked into our room. We love Kori and felt she was right on with all the advise on what was near and where to go. The bed was comfortable and the room was lovely. The courtyard and pool area was very beautiful. We highly recommend this Hotel and will return to it when in NOLA

I love the French Quarter and this hotel was a delight to me. I was traveling by myself. Very helpful and friendly staff. The Continental breakfast was delicious. Within walking distance of Jackson Square. This is not a brand new hotel, but to me when I travel back to the French Quarter it will be my place to stay. Ask questions at the desk they are very helpful in regards to Tours, attractions, and always remember this is Southern Hospitality. Leave your attitude at home!
