I had my wedding in NOLA this past weekend and my entire wedding party (including us) stayed at the Place d'Armes. We got a hospitality suite -- room 111 -- and our room was right on the courtyard. The courtyard is gorgeous. Pool, outdoor seating, magnolias, crepe myrtles and a second, smaller courtyard in the background. It was absolutely perfect for our bridesmaids and groomsmen to stay with their significant others in private rooms while still having a gorgeous hang out space. There's a grocery store called Rouses right around the corner so we were able to make the place feel like home. The staff was great -- helpful but not intrusive and very gracious about the celebratory spirit that went a bit late into the night. They let the bride and groom have a late check-out until 2pm so we could attend the post-wedding brunch. All in all, a wonderful experience!

Great stay at Place d'Armes Hotel - the location is fantastic, rooms are comfortable and very quiet!. We stayed in a courtyard room which is lovely - walk out your door straight into the garden. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend this hotel.

While only a 3 star rating, this hotel offered our group of 4 exactly what we wanted - great location, friendly staff, beatiful courtyard, quiet rooms all at affordable prices. While in New Orleans, we are out exploring all day and evening and just want a quiet, central spot to sleep - this hotel provided that plus a nice central courtyard for morning coffee and evening refreshments. The staff were very helpful with local information and hotel services. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We had a windowless inside room which turned out to be great - no noise, very quiet and we weren'...

That is exactly how I feel, 'like I am at home' from the minute Chris the bellman grabs my bag at the door, or even the shuttle door, I am in the COMFORT of my French Quarter home. I sleep like a log, breakfast with a friendly staff, while watching the quiet activity going by through windows over looking St. Ann Street. Within minutes I could be In Jackson Square at the corner, or on the river, just beyond.. I've been here so often, I just take 'my place' here at 'Place d', for granted!! Little words of advice, like when I planned going to 'New Orleans Jazz Fest' last May, Dionne at the desk got on the phone, then gave me directions for the simplest, fastest, not too expensive way to get out to the race track, just by walking up to the river!!
that oft repeated word: LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!! is what you get at Place d' Armes... WAZ

Room Tip: They have such a variety of rooms, be such you TELL when you phone: with or without windows; elevato...

We loved place d'armes- it was right in the heart of the French quarter (but far enough from the madness bourbon street!) and the accommodation was clean, spacious, as well as really quaint, retaining a feel of old new Orleans in the decor and ambience. We woke up to live music in the street and went to bed to the same. It may be too close to the action for some but it was just the right balance for us. We loved new Orleans and when we go back we will definitely be staying here.

We took our teenagers to NOLA for a long weekend and stayed at the Place d'Armes on a friend's recommendation. I will try to tell you both the good and the not so good about the hotel. The best thing about it is the location - we booked rooms with balconies overlooking Chartres street and just at the end of the block is Jackson Square. Both of our rooms had balconies, and it was a blast to sit out there and just watch and listen to New Orleans. One of our rooms (218) was gigantic - the kids stayed in it due to the two double beds. The room had a faux fireplace in between the beds and was very spacious. Our room across the hall also had a balcony but it was HALF the size - very tiny in my opinion. We spent all of our together time in the kids room. The staff at the front desk was fine - it is a very tiny reception area, but the employees were accommodating. The bell desk/consierge people were helpful getting cabs, etc. The courtyard was old school New Orleans - there was a pool, too cool to use but pretty. Folks sat around in the tables in the courtyard every night at cocktail hour with bottles of wine, playing cards, etc. So, now for some of the not so good things. The hotel is TIRED - the bedspreads are kinda yucky, the bathrooms are very small and dated, nothing really seemed very clean to us. In our room with a king bed, there wasn't even a night side table on both sides of the room. Our air conditioner came on and off loudly every time it needed to. The common indoor areas are also very musty and just not that great. We only did the breakfast one day - supermarket muffins and croissants, coffee and juice. Better off going down a block to Cafe Dumond for some decent breakfast, or spending a little money somewhere like Stanley (across the street) or the Camellia Diner just down Chartres. Like everywhere else in NOLA, people were smoking absolutely everywhere. We had to come in from our balconies sometimes because people were chainsmoking on other balconies. The hotel is also not very well soundproof, so when everyone comes home from their night of drinking you can hear every sound as if you are with them. Even though the hotel has a lot of old school New Orleans aspects, there is something to be said for clean, respectable linens, toiletries beyond bar soap and shampoo, and a little more cleanliness in general. I've been to NOLA 5 times and even though we enjoyed the balconies we would not stay at this hotel again. I think there are better ones out there.

Room Tip: Only book one with a balcony to outside. There are interior rooms without even a window and rooms w...

Our group of 5 ladies returned to NOLA and this hotel for a long weekend. Staff was and is friendly and fantastic. Love the Courtyard for sharing experiences over wine with other guests, a quiet respite steps away from the heart of the French Quarter. Coffee, juice and rolls are a nice plus for breakfast. Rooms are basic but pleasant. We had a few repeats of the paranormal we experienced before but nothing really scary. Just pleasant "spirits" all around!
