“Modern, luxurious, best staff in nola”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2011

I stayed here for a weekend and loved it. I have stayed at several hotels in nola and this one is hands down the best.
I was upgraded to a slightly larger room due to my rewards stAtus and it was very nice, spacious, and comfortable.
Overall the staff was amazing, extremely friendly and professional.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Weekend parking was valet only and 33 a night which seems to be the std at all the hotels nearby (marriott, crowne plaza, ritz,).
If you drive around a little bit you should be able to find a garage for around 15/day. I often park at the garage next to the Hilton Garden Inn which is a couple blocks away from the jw.

Our room was large and clean with free water (a big deal in July) and nice amentities. The location is ideal for exploring the city on foot, as it is close to the French Quarter and Bourbon St.
Our biggest hang up was that on the first evening, the fire alarm system malfunctioned from 10pm to 12am. The loudspeaker system reassured us that it was an error and there was no emergency, but with a 3 year old in the room, it was inconvenient. What a nice hotel staff though, as the next morning we had a credit for 2 drinks at the bar or a free in room movie. Well handled.

I've been to New Orleans many times but had never stayed in French Quarter area. I'm glad I chose this hotel. The location is within walking distance to all the popular things to do in New Orleans (Bourbon St, Cafe Dumond, River Walk, etc.). The room is a little small but clean and comfortable with modern amenities.

I really expected a bit more from this hotel but overall a very nice stay. Wireless Internet is not available, you can network in for 14.99. day. Rooms were nice but surprisingly small even for NOLA. Robes and coffee in room standard compliments of Marriott. Location was very central to all activities and restaurants. Staff were friendly
and welcoming.

I had a muscle spasm in my back while we were there and the Spa downstairs was very accommodating and managed to squeeze me in for a much needed massage. It took a while to retrieve our car from valet parking so plan accordingly.

Room Tip: We had a corner room on the concierge level with a view of the river. Turn down service was great, r...

The hotel was nice and clean, the one downside was that the hot water cannot get pumped up to high floors well so my husband and I don't have consistent hot water during showers. We were on 28th floor, stayed for 6 nights, 3/18/2011-3/24/2011. We called the concierge and they said the building is old so that's not uncommon. Our friend who is on 30th floor said that he never got hot water for showers, poor thing. And his safe didn't even work, so the hotel gave him a breakfast buffet coupon. And he didn't use it so gave it to us.
The breakfast buffet was nice. The chef was very very nice, he doesn't only make omelet and waffle, but also went around to make sure every customer is okay. All the servers are sincere too. That was very good. I think all the staff in the hotel are nice, polite and sincere. Just too bad that the age of the building caused the hot water problems to high floors.

The JW is outstanding! It certainly compares with other luxury hotels. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, making sure that we felt comfortable and welcome. This hotel also has a very nice little rooftop pool on the 8th floor that I wished I would have known about before visiting this wonderful hotel. Excellent location, clean and pretty rooms, and very good value for the money.
