Returned to the Roosevelt for a Tulane and Saints football weekend and again had another very nice stay. Ran into Willie from Duck Dynasty in the lobby -- my teenage sons loved that. Joe Montana was staying there as well -- his son is QB at Tulane. This is a great place to stay if you are in N.O. for a football game since you can walk to the Dome and not worry about parking. You are next to the Quarter but not deep into it, so you avoid all the street noise and can get a good night's rest. I would definitely stay here again.

Fabulous room. Bed was divine. Sazerac Bar had great service and cocktails. John Besh restaurant was great change of menu when we'd OD'd on the Creole selections in the French Quarter. All in all, would definitely stay here again.

This hotel had a minimum of fat tourists running around in sweats. The Sazarac bar is a favorite of locals, and the John Besh restaurant, Dominica, is as good as Luke without all of the snide hostesses. It is a good place to experiance New Orleans because it is close to the Quarter without being in it, so you don't have a bunch of douchbags in TapouT shirts puking outside the lobby.

We just returned from a 2 night stay in NOLA at the Roosevelt. Our experience was "Meh"...
The first room given to us was musty and humid and we asked for a change - which was quickly granted. The room given next was tiny with a very small bathroom but clean and odor free. The service at the Roosevelt is good and the staff is friendly. The gym is adequate but has limited equipment. The location of the hotel is fine- close to the French Quarter and CBD. The Spa was fine and we had excellent massages there. There are no "extras" such as steam, sauna or toiletries. In short, this is a solid choice for a NOLA visit but not as nice as other Waldorf Astoria properties we have visited.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room ( avoid the 46 line).

I was staying at the Roosevelt for a conference, and it's lovely and the staff couldn't be more pleasant all around. But what put me over the top was how amazing they were when I was ill overnight. I called the front desk at 5 AM seeing if they by chance had any antacids. They said that the gift shop sold them, and I assumed it wouldn't be open for hours. To my surprise, the woman told me the security staff would gladly open the shop and bring some up to my room. It was an extraordinary level of service, for which I was tremendously grateful. It's a rare hotel that goes that far out of its way to help its guests. Thanks for making my stay so great.

Excellent experience. The accomodations, location, staff were top notch. I can't remember being in a nicer hotel. When you are away from home for 5 or 6 days, the accomodations are very important. The Concierge service was very good and I found it particularly helpful having never been to New Orleans before.

The Roosevelt is a beautiful, historical hotel just outside of the French Quarter, near Bourbon St. It has a gorgeous gold lobby that contains a couple of restaurants, a coffee shop and a very nice gift shop. We stayed in a Deluxe Room with a queen bed. The room and the bathroom had a very luxurious feel to them. However, the room was very small and the puffy luxury bedding (as nice as it was), made it feel a little claustrophobic. There was no coffeemaker in the room, so if you are a coffee drinker, you'll need to go down to the cafe in the lobby. While I never felt unsafe walking to and from the hotel, I don't usually like to travel up Canal St beyond where Bourbon St intersects. The location also made for a long walk to the Decatur St/Jackson Sq area. You can take the Canal St streetcar toward Decatur St, but the long waits can be a pain and much of the time its already packed with people. Having said all that, this is still a perfect hotel for a special occasion, for when you want to be pampered and when you want to stay near Bourbon St, but don't want the extra noise when you're trying to sleep!
