Located across Canal from the French Quarter, this historic gem. We stayed there while the golfers and their families were staying there for the Zurich Open. If it is good enough for Bubba Watson, well you know the rest. It's definitely good enough for me.

It is beautifully redone and now part of the Waldorf Astoria chain. The lobby is really spectacular. The staff was super busy and it was full to capacity as the Zurich Open was during the first weekend of Jazz Fest. The hotel was at capacity but the staff didn't show it all being gracious, friendly and helpful. I got upgraded to a suite which always puts a spring in my step. It was spacious and luxuriously appointed. I love the tv in the bathroom and the bathroom with two sections with doors for privacy. It also had nice linens and super nice toiletries.

Don't miss the Sazerac Bar - it is reminiscent of the King Cole Bar in the St. Regis in NYC. Both have beautiful murals and a clubby feel. Try the Sazerac cocktail -- a craft cocktail long before they were cool. Breakfast at the adjoining restaurant was very good too with the same excellent attentive service.

The location is great - just out of the Quarter but close enough to walk. Will always try to stay her on future visits.

A bit pricey, but the property maintains an elegant, old -time charm. Rooms are nicely appointed, staff are friendly, and a great restaurant and the Sazerac bar are in the buildings. It's a short walk to the French quarter, and 20 minutes to the warehouse district.

I have been here for both work and pleasure and the service is amazing. The rooms are pricey, but worth the extra money. The rooms are large and feature a separate dressing area. The bathrooms have their own TV and phone. Turndown service, mints on your pillow...fantastic way to experience New Orleans.

Located on the the edge of the French Quarter, The Roosevelt is a throw back to a more opulent time. I stayed here three nights and everything was first rate and comfortable. Location is within walking distance to everything in the French Quarter. I can't comment on the restaurants and bars as I didn't use them. Hotel is great, I'd stay here again.

Excellent stay. Beautiful old historic hotel that has been remodeled to allow us to all experience what New Orleans used to be like when Huey Long ruled the roost, but now with all the modern amenities of today. We stayed in a two room suite on the 10th floor of tower 2. The bedroom and living room were quite large -- loved the tall ceilings. Room was very quiet which made for a good night of sleep. Location is good, walk to the quarter, but its not "in" the heart of the quarter which is actually a plus. (anyone who spends any time in N.O. knows you can't sleep in the hotels "in" the quarter because its way too noisy) Bathroom had a nice shower with multiple shower heads, but there was no tub. Had an outstanding omelette delivered room service for breakfast. This hotel is certainly worthy of Hilton's Waldorf collection of properties.
I've stayed here previously in a deluxe room, which I thought was tight and had a tiny bathroom. A suite is definitely the way to go if you want to spring for it (or if you can get an upgrade).

Dear tryntoctheworld,

Thank you for taking time and letting our TripAdvisor community know about your recent stay. We do want to thank you for your loyalty to our hotel. You had very kind words about our restoration and it does indeed bring you back to a time when Huey P Long ruled the hotel. We see that you traveled to New Orleans for business which we are pleased you were able to enjoy the comforts of a suite. It is a little easier to be away from home when you feel like you are at your second home. Thank you again for your kind words and we hope that your travels do not keep you far from New Orleans for too long. We look forward to your future stay.

We had a great time in new Orleans. We were here for a weekend for the chargers vs saints. This hotel had the most comfortable bed and very nice decor. It was a nice get away from all the noise but yet very close to all to go out for a good time. I also really liked their gift shop;)

CONS:
The lobby is beautiful and the restaurants and bar look the same, but I spent no more than 5 minutes there. My room was the smallest little box ever, with a AC unit that didn't seem to be cooling, some red and white stains on the floors and mirrors, a view of the side of some buildings, a small window that doesn't open. The thin walls and transient noise had to be the worst I've ever experienced. I woke up about once an hour due to some random noise. Then I noticed an annoying grandfather clock chime that would go off every 30 minutes starting around sunrise that was loud enough to wake me up. I could have slept better in my car or in a sleeping bag in the woods. The shower looked cool, but I heard it leaking as soon as I entered the room the first time. It wouldn't shut off completely, no matter what. As a Gold HHonors member, I am entitled to a room upgrade, but they said they didn't have one available. All I got for perks was two free small bottles of Waldorf-branded water in my room, two drinks at the bar that I didn't want or use, an in-room movie that I didn't want or use, and 1,000 HHonors points.

PROS:
It is on a block with a Walgreen's, CVS, a couple interesting bars, and right across from Bourbon St. I paid next to nothing by using HHonors points. I parked at Harrah's (which is a few blocks away) and gambled until I had unlimited free parking.

SUGGESTION:
Go to any of the neighboring hotels.
