“First timers - pleasant experience”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

This was our first visit to New Orleans and The Roosevelt. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and room. We had a deluxe Queen. The room was clean and very well attended to. The bathroom was also very nice and clean. Quest room service was outstanding. New Orleans has some of the most hospitible people I have ever met. Everyone at The Roosevelt was extremely helpful.

If I was forced to make a suggestion for a better experience, it would be to change the shower head to a more powerful output. The shower head was more like a light stream lacking "ummphh". I'm petite & had to stand under the water for a period of time.

Other then the shower experience, The Roosevelt will be our Hotel of choice for future stays.

Great location to walk to Bourbon St. Beautiful property, great roof top pool & bar. Room was very nice, comfortable for 3 adults. All staff was VERY professional. Went to a party in the Blue Room that was fun.

great location. close walk to festivities. fantastic staff. we did encounter a problem in our room. the ac vent filter leaked on to the floor. maintenance came to fix right away. some of our clothes got wet from being on the floor under the vent. they did our laundry quickly and for free. it's a bit expensive but i really enjoyed staying here. it was a beautiful hotel. rooms were nice and clean. we didn;t eat here, but did have a few drinks (expensive) at the bar.

Room Tip: the way the hotel is laid out, all the rooms were good

Short and Suite: Brief overnight, didn't get a chance to truly explore the hotel however I felt safe, comfortable and welcome. I hope to go back for a long stay in the future, it is a great location and has many amenities.

Do you research, if you aren't up to paying $40 to Valet park your car, drop you bags off at the hotel and park in one of the garages on Iberville across Canal and walk like I did.

Room Service: Excellant breakfast however juice, coffee, sides add up fast. j

Elevator: no key card access, I mentioned this on the questionare sent to me by the hotel via email and got a very nice response from someone of importance that thanked me for my comments.

Room: was clean, fresh and well appointed with adequate toiletries and towels, water was hotter the next morning than it was in the afternoon.

View: old building 9th floor, had an excellant view of the Ritz Carlton across Canal St. and street car.

I spend a lot of nights in hotel properties across the US when traveling for work (120-180 nights a year). When vacationing, I usually opt for boutique hotels or B&B’s as I just get tired of the standard fare. Even the higher end Hilton or Marriott properties often leave me disappointed as being too generic, not well cared for, etc.

I read all of the positive reviews and decided to give the WA Roosevelt on a recent trip to New Orleans. I couldn’t have been more pleased with the hotel.

We were upgraded to a one bedroom, king suite on the 14th floor of tower 1. The suite was very clean and well appointed. One side had sitting room with half-bath, one side bedroom with full-bath. Shower was great—read a review where they stated shower water pressure was not that great, but I did not find this to be the case on the highest floor of property. Maybe they just didn’t know how to work the shower valve that operates the multiple shower heads.

The room was right outside of the elevators, which had me a bit concerned at first. But I literally could not hear anything going on in the halls, and in New Orleans, people come and go all night. The windows had black-out shades as advertised that, well, blacked out the room. The suite had separate control thermostats for the sitting room and bed room that worked very well. The full bath had tv inside, for a total of three flat panels in the suite. Lastly, the bed was extremely comfortable and the sheets were new, and of high thread count.
T
he three other hotel services we used on our stay were room service, the bar, and concierge.
On room service, we had breakfast two mornings. Of all the hotels I have stayed in, the room service at the Roosevelt was among the best. Small things like how food is kept separate as to not render the toast damp or the eggs dry. The pancakes were phenomenal. Really a winner for room service. Not inexpensive, but worth it for the quality in my opinion.

The bar was great as well. Being a HH Diamond, we received two, 12 dollar drink tickets. Drinks were great and atmosphere even better. Great place to hang out for a while and incidentally, they had Tito’s vodka—my favorite.

The concierge steered us to a number of great places—basically setup an entire evening for me given the interests I expressed to him. All of his ideas were a big hit.

I would strongly recommend a visit to New Orleans and stay at the Roosevelt to anyone.

Room Tip: See if you can get upgraded to a suite. Noise was not a problem near elevators.

Beautifully restored hotel - lobby area is gorgeous - great bell staff helped with luggage quickly - check in speedy. Room was standard king and while small was definitely high end - bed super comfy - great shower and bath ammenities. We had a pretty good view of the river. Easy walking distance to the French Quarter. Roof top pool was nice place to hang out and spend the afternoon. Good bar in the pool area as well.

While it was not our first choice - we are certainly glad we took a chance and gave The Roosevelt a try - for the $$$ it was great stay and we WILL be making this our hotel of choice for our next trip to New Orleans.

Very accommodating staff, nice rooms, good food. Highly recommend dining at Domenica (a John Besh eatery) in the hotel. The Carrie Me Away cocktail is excellent. So is the Garganelli pasta dish - very flavorful! Skip Sazerac restaurant for food (lunch their was not very good). Cold oysters on salad, never got extra dressing I ordered. Was there for a conference but would recommend this hotel.
