“Packed to the gills with books”
Reviewed March 13, 2012

Small and lovely. Every square inch is covered with books--from first editions of Faulker (who lived in this location for 6 months) to more contemporary titles. The owner is unobtrusive but helpful (just what one would want in a book shop!).

“Great History”
Reviewed January 23, 2012

I didn't go here to buy any books, just to visit Faulkner's temporary home. It's a really nice spot with some great first editions behind glass. It is a very small store, so it can be uncomfortable if more than a few people are there.

“Best bookstore in the South (or anywhere else)”
Reviewed August 26, 2011

No visit to New Orleans is complete without a visit to this gem of a bookstore. I travel to NO every year or so and never miss an opportunity to browse and buy at Faulkner House. The shop is tiny, but has a tremendous selection of books. You'll be able to find recent literary fiction and poetry, antiquarian books, and especially books by local authors. The staff is friendly, helpful and insightful - every time I visit they recommend a book by an author I've never heard of, but who ends up being a favorite. If I were ever brave enough to open a bookstore, I'd want it to be just like Faulkner House Books!

“Nice little bookstore”
Reviewed August 21, 2011

Cool bookstore close to Jackson square. It's a pretty small store so if many ppl are there, it can feel cramped. The owners live in the building and the store has some cool pics with autographs of some great writers like Hemingway and Harper Lee. Historical building also.

“The only Bookstore You Need to Visit in New Orleans”
Reviewed May 30, 2011

We visit this bookstore every visit to NOLA without fail. They carry new, used, rare & collectible books but their diverse inventory isn't what makes a visit essential. Their staff is remarkable. Following a short conversation they, without fail, recommend the perfect gift, your next read or a unique find. Walk in, chat with them for a few moments & you'll be a customer for life!
