If you want to go up to City Park or down to the river, to the river edge of the French Quarter to Audubon Park, then it's a fun way to get there. The cars do get crowded at some stops and some times of day, but overall, there's usually a place to sit; and they go so slowly that you can do some good sightseeing. At $3.00 for a day pass, it's cheap. Unfortunately, the streetcar operators are mostly surly, which means management should look at what's demotivating them.
Take a relaxing ride on the Streetcars to get around, or just to say you did, and see some of the backstreets of New Orleans. Stately mansions blended with new age buildings in the shade of some of the most awesome trees still alive.
These streetcars are very convenient. Download the RTA app, where you can purchase tickets, plan trips, look up pick up times, etc. All have A/C with the exception of the St. Charles Streetcar, it's the oldest one so no A/C, but it does take you directly to the Garden District, which is a must visit while in New Orleans.
The streetcar is a great way to see the city. Get on and off wherever you want and explore uptown. Great little neighborhood shops and restaurants.
Used the street cars a few times during our stay, easy on and off and the drivers were actually fun and entertaining! Its cheap and easy to use.
The streetcars are a great way to get around New Orleans, especially for a tourists who is not in a hurry. $3 for a day pass is hard to beat.
