Owner description: Get wherever you want to go in New Orleans with the Regional Transit Authority (RTA). Our extensive network of buses and streetcars winds throughout every neighborhood of the Crescent City. From Uptown to Downtown, from Lakeview to the Lower Nine, from Mid-City across the Mississippi River and to the parish lines, the RTA goes there. As streetcars glide underneath grand live oaks and past stately mansions, they offer up relaxing views of the beauty, charm and history of New Orleans for little cost. When riders board these historic vehicles they are boarding a piece of movable New Orleans history. The RTA operates three streetcar lines: the famous, historic St. Charles line, the Canal Street line, and the Riverfront line. All lines either run along or intersect with Canal Street in the area between the French Quarter and the Central Business District (CBD) connecting Uptown/Garden District, Carrollton, Mid-City, City Park and the Marigny. The RTA is currently adding more Streetcar lines.

Was visiting New Orleans for the first time and our group wanted to see the city so we decided to take the streetcar. It was quite an experience and very enjoyable. What a surprise that we could ride all day for $3.00.

“Maybe After the Tracks are Repaired.”
Reviewed July 17, 2014

I was tickled to find out that as a "Senior Citizen" I could with the streetcars for 40 cents. However, during this visit there was a bus bridge past some track repairs being made. The bus service was not very coordinated with teh streetcars operation and was un consistant. (I rode several times during my four day visit).
I hope that the St. Charles Street Car system is fully repaired by the time we return in October, 2014.
I also got a kick out of the local "vendor" selling water and home made pralines at the end of the line.

“Bad experience”
Reviewed July 16, 2014 via mobile

Rode the street car because it was inexpensive way to get around. We got on the streetcar next to the Drury Inn, she yelled at us when asked to purchase 3 all day passes, told us to hurry up and go sit down, couldn't even ask another question. She got to Canal and told everyone its the end of the line get off the trolley and go catch the canal trolley. We wanted to go down St Charles the opposite way.We just got off and didn't say nothing. The Driver on Canal street was really nice and friendly. Then we caught the trolley to the French Market , that driver was rude and inconsiderate, just blew people off when they would ask questions . There was a elderly handicap lady and her companion that needed help broading because she had a walker and it was too high for her to step up. So I asked the driver to open the door with the ramp so the lady could broad and the driver just turned her head ignored me. The elderly lady said to me its OK , then my husband and her companion lifted her up to broad the trolley with the driver standing there with her hands on her hips watching . I was so upset that I refuse to ride the trolley again. The rude drivers were both ladies, sad.

“Cheap to get around”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

$3.00 gets you an "All Day" ticket which expires at 4am the following morning. This ticket allows you to ride the Street Cars AND buses all day. A magnificent and efficient way to get around. Be prepared for a BIG step up into the car but you may be lucky and get a super helpful conductor though they were few and far between.

“Unreliable but pretty”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

These look lovely and are great for photos. They are also quite convenient for getting up and down Canal st but they do not really run to a schedule so you can be left waiting for a while.
