Owner description: Get wherever you want to go in New Orleans with the Regional Transit Authority (RTA). Our extensive network of buses and streetcars winds throughout every neighborhood of the Crescent City. From Uptown to Downtown, from Lakeview to the Lower Nine, from Mid-City across the Mississippi River and to the parish lines, the RTA goes there. As streetcars glide underneath grand live oaks and past stately mansions, they offer up relaxing views of the beauty, charm and history of New Orleans for little cost. When riders board these historic vehicles they are boarding a piece of movable New Orleans history. The RTA operates three streetcar lines: the famous, historic St. Charles line, the Canal Street line, and the Riverfront line. All lines either run along or intersect with Canal Street in the area between the French Quarter and the Central Business District (CBD) connecting Uptown/Garden District, Carrollton, Mid-City, City Park and the Marigny. The RTA is currently adding more Streetcar lines.

“St. Charles Streetcar”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Cheap and easy. Nice relaxing ride through one of the most beautiful parts of New Orleans. Sit back and see some of the most diverse examples of architecture anywhere. Feel the breeze and get out of the heat. We bought a day pass so we could hop on and off whenever and wherever the impulse struck.

“Great way to see the Garden District w/o walking”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

If you need a break from the noise of Bourbon St, hop on the St Charles Streetcar just off Canal Street and take a ride into a completely different place. You can see the beautiful homes without every stepping off the streetcar. It took about 25 minutes to take the ride out to Audubon Park and Loyola College but it was a nice break from walking around and gave us a chance to see the Garden District. For $3/day you can get on/off as often as you like. It's a deal that you can't pass up. There was one catch - the line was being worked on so we hit a point where we had to get off the streetcar and on to a public bus to get further into the Garden. That part was a little hard to figure out but we asked questions and people were willing to help.

“Always Fun”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

It is always fun on the street car. It is a great way to get around the NOLA area. It is cheap and you always see interesting people on their. It is clean and safe. It can sometimes be super crowded when there is something big (fest or parade) going on.
