Owner description: Get wherever you want to go in New Orleans with the Regional Transit Authority (RTA). Our extensive network of buses and streetcars winds throughout every neighborhood of the Crescent City. From Uptown to Downtown, from Lakeview to the Lower Nine, from Mid-City across the Mississippi River and to the parish lines, the RTA goes there. As streetcars glide underneath grand live oaks and past stately mansions, they offer up relaxing views of the beauty, charm and history of New Orleans for little cost. When riders board these historic vehicles they are boarding a piece of movable New Orleans history. The RTA operates three streetcar lines: the famous, historic St. Charles line, the Canal Street line, and the Riverfront line. All lines either run along or intersect with Canal Street in the area between the French Quarter and the Central Business District (CBD) connecting Uptown/Garden District, Carrollton, Mid-City, City Park and the Marigny. The RTA is currently adding more Streetcar lines.

“Must do”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

You must do it. It is the cheapest way to see the prettiest part of the city. You can also transfer and go all the way to city park. So for $2.50 you can have a round trip 25 mile tour of the city.

“Under repair, but still worthwhile.”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

Streetcar tracks are being repaired, but it was worth a bus ride to transfer to the streetcar for the ride to the end of the line! Love the NOLA streetcars!

“A Lovely Touch in a Lovely City”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

What a treat to ride on an old street car. Plus if you are starting at Canal Street, it dramatically shortens a long walk!

“City and Cemetery Tour from Cajun Encoounters”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

We started at the hotel, traveled all over the city to each point on the brochure. Our guide Jason was very informative and knowledgable of both the city and the little known facts. When the tour was over he offered the riders the opportunity to return to their hotel or be let off back in the French quarter near the market.
This was great and we got off at the market and began our walk to various businesses in the French Quarter. Later we caught the bus back to our hotel. Did a tasting of local beers and food.

“Cheapest tour in town...”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

A round trip tour of the Garden District via the St. Charles street car is the cheapest tour in town. You'll see a wide variety of houses. From the smallest to the grandest. Audubon Zoo in on the route, as are Tulane and Loyola Universities. I always enjoy riding on the street cars.
