Owner description: Get wherever you want to go in New Orleans with the Regional Transit Authority (RTA). Our extensive network of buses and streetcars winds throughout every neighborhood of the Crescent City. From Uptown to Downtown, from Lakeview to the Lower Nine, from Mid-City across the Mississippi River and to the parish lines, the RTA goes there. As streetcars glide underneath grand live oaks and past stately mansions, they offer up relaxing views of the beauty, charm and history of New Orleans for little cost. When riders board these historic vehicles they are boarding a piece of movable New Orleans history. The RTA operates three streetcar lines: the famous, historic St. Charles line, the Canal Street line, and the Riverfront line. All lines either run along or intersect with Canal Street in the area between the French Quarter and the Central Business District (CBD) connecting Uptown/Garden District, Carrollton, Mid-City, City Park and the Marigny. The RTA is currently adding more Streetcar lines.

“Best Deal in New Orleans”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

This was my husband's favorite attraction. We rode through the Garden District enjoying first-class views of historic Victorians and landscaped mansions, many with over-the-top Halloween decorations. Kids on the streetcar loved it. This is the "oldest continuously operated street railway line in the world," so you're riding through history. We passed the beautiful Audubon Park and stately Loyola University. Go to the end of the line and, on the return, get off where the streetcar makes a wide turn to the left. There are several restaurants here. We tried The Camellia Grill, sitting at the counter and interacting with the cooks and servers. A cultural experience with fairly good traditional food. On the way back, we got off at the Garden District and took our own walking tour. All of this cost just $1.25 each way! Riding the streetcar is a no-brainer.

“My only mode of transportation when I was in NOLA”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

I stayed out by Tulane University / Autobon Park so my mode of transportation to the french quarter was the St Charles Streetcar, a very scenic trip past the mansions, definitely worth the round trip ride just for the view.

“Nice way around the city.”

Easy on and off access, not all lines are open yet so ;you have to make sure you know where you are going. Locals are a great help.

“Great Photo Ops”

We were in NOLA for a wedding, the wedding party left the church on Carrollon and ended up downtown at the Federal Ballroom. Wonderful idea!
