Owner description: There's just enough voodoo lore here to introduce you to the history and culture of this spiritual practice and to tempt you to bring home a love potion or voodoo doll as a souvenir. Guided swamp, plantation and cemetery tours are available.

For $19, this is a good tour. You will learn some things you perhaps wouldn't have from a similar tour, but it was pretty low on entertainment value. We did stop by a local Voodoo Priestess' shop(?). She was nice but it was a little awkward. The tour guide was very engaging and obviously well-versed in his voodoo. The most interesting part was the walk through the cemetery. I've been on several other tours that went through the cemetery and I felt like I left with some good information about voodoo and whatnot. This guy went one step further and was able to show us the difference between the items that random tourists left and what was left by real voodoo practitioners at Marie Laveau's tomb. That was cool...

We took the Cemetery and museum tour for $19. You start at the museum which is a couple of rooms STUFFED with voodoo items, photos and articles. We were met there by the owner who gave us a tour of the museum and answered any questions you have. After about 20 minutes, you start walking to the cemetery, stopping along the way to see other notable sites. If you are visiting in the summer, bring water, it gets HOT!!! You will be walking over mile round trip. You will stop by the spot where Marie Laveau lived and her tomb, along with a stop at the park and catholic church for some very interesting stories. The guide has so much information about New Orleans, Mardi Gras and of course, VooDoo, that you may be overwhelmed. On the way back, you may visit with a Voodoo priestist, if she is available. If you have any interest in VooDoo, this is the only tour you should take. Most of the other tours do not give half the information given on this tour and some give wrong information. The museum is OK, but If you have the time, around 3 hours, take the tour. It is well worth the $19. WARNING!!! Do not park on any of the streets around the museum, they are all reserved for residents. Since most of the parking available to tourist are 2 hour parking, you will need to park in a garage. The best price I found was DH Holmes garage at 817 Iberville Street, also great for visiting the French Quarter.

Me and a group of friends did the $19 Cemetery Walking Tour/ admission to the museum.
So worth the money.
Our tour guide is the owner of the museum and is a local historian.
The walk is about 8 blocks, but the guide will keep you very entertained and informed.

I would recommend doing the last tour of the day, so you can fully enjoy everything this brilliant man has to offer.

We visited the museum early on a Sunday morning and even though there were other visitors already there, the owner still took the time to visit with us. We enjoyed the exhibits and the history lessons contained within this little place. It was truly representative of the voodoo culture and we were glad we took the time to visit. Sam, the snake, was a warm host as well. We will definitely be back again and bring friends along. Thank you!
