Owner description: Arguably the city's most historic bar, the Blacksmith, dates to 1772.

This place is really old, and you can tell - in a good way. It's got a great vibe, we had a blast here, and ran into Captain Jack Sparrow, among a myriad of other colorful and memorable characters. Worth walking down if you only usually hang out at the busier end of Bourbon St. The bloody Mary's here are especially spicy, with plenty of pickled beans and olives. We met more people here who say they live in NOLA than any other bar. Pleasantly, the music was not too loud for talking.

This is a great spot to come for a drink and to relax. The atmosphere is fun and one of the better locations for a hurricane too.

Love this place - so historic - can feel the ghosts of the past - some have seen them - love the Voodoo drink, tastes like grape slurpy/slushee...great to hang out by the window during the afternoon and watch the tourists/horse and carriages go by, hang out with friends, hear some music at night - very casual - very fun - in the residential end of Bourbon...stopped in a few times during my latest trip there....

Best hurricanes in New Orleans! The bartenders are friendly, and have long pours. The courtyard and outdoor seating is good. Get there early, because it will fill up fast.

We went there several times on our trip to New Orleans last weekend. It is rough and rustic, not for Country club types. Definitely the best hurricane in NOLA, not all syrup, made from real fruit juice.
