“A lovely urban park...”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

This park is even bigger than Central Park in my birthplace of New York City... easy to reach by the Canal Streetcar Line (just make sure the sign on the front of the streetcar says "City Park/Museum" and ride it to the end of the line)... centuries-old Live Oak trees... dedicated bikeways and walkways... City Putt mini-golf... the cute miniature train... the Botanical Garden... the Museum of Art... other sports facilities... and a whole lot more... one could easily spend the entire day here... a great way to escape the big city!

“Wished I had more time to explore”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

We rode up on bikes from the French Quarter but had to get back before we fully explored. However, it's a really nice little oasis and feels lived-in, like Central Park. It's not a park that's just a waste of space, like some other city parks.

Sculpture garden was surprisingly nice. I'd say it's one of the nicest sculpture gardens I've been to in the US, in that the sculptures were all really cool and diverse. Wished I had time to check out the art museum too.

“Try renting a cruiser or surrey.”
Reviewed July 11, 2013 via mobile

After getting of the street car and walking up we the main entrance, we were debating whether to rent a bike or paddle boat... We decided on the duece cruiser, 2 hrs, and enjoyed every minute. We were able to see the entire park and stopped at the cafe for lunch. Granted the bikes or boats wouldn't be great for individuals out of shape, but having a single bike powered by two people is great. Even if not renting a bike, I would recommend visiting the park and seeing the sights. Next time, we will try the paddle boat rental...

“Great hangout!”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

I run in the park daily. If you haven't seen the magical chime tree, make a point of visiting this serene spot. Once a couple picnicked beneath this awesome tree and offered us some of their wine and cheese. We graciously declined, but magic happens here. It's a great place to sit for a spell and soak in the sunshine or peruse the parks many offerings. You won't be sorry! You can also cross the bridge on Wismer and there's a fab biking path that leads to Lake Ponchartrain. Fun for one or the entire family!

“Bike Rides in City Park”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

After a pleasant walk through the old oaks, we ended up close to the Big Lake (on the front side of the Art Museum), and we decided to go for a bike ride. We rented a Single Surrey, and did a full tour, that took us next to the Botanical Garden, Amusement Park, City Putt and Morning Call Cafe.

They were just bringing in new paddle boats, will have to try them next time!
