City Park is in great shape compared to before the hurricane. The trees and Spanish moss are healthy, the lawns are kept well and new tress have been planted. City Park is easy to get to from the city - just take the Canal Street streetcar.

There is a cafe in the park, washrooms, and things to do for kids. Highly recommended!

The park is lovely. I was short of time but could have easily spent time walking or biking around the small lake. The sculpture garden was fantastic...and free! Peaceful and fantastic works around another lovely lake. The NOMA is well worth the visit. I thoroughly enjoyed my time but wish I had devoted the entire day instead of just a couple of hours.

You really need your own car to visit this place. There is a lot to see but it is well spaced out. At the time we visited (on a guided city tour), the rest stop should have had ice creams and snacks, but the building was being renovated and the lady in the tiny shop was not the friendliest of people. There was only chips(crisps to us English) or a choice of 3 or 4 chocolate bars. No coffee.

I lived near this park as a child, and hadn't been back to it until after Katrina. You could tell that the park had been devastated and has lost a lot of the old oak trees, but it was able to make a remarkable comeback. You can spend the entire day there, boating, visiting the museum, Storyland, the gardens...just be sure to check times and hours. The sculpture garden is a particular highlight, especially when they screen films outdoors at night, like Hichcock's "The Birds"! This park is a real gem with something for everyone!
