I enjoyed the museum. A medium sized place - 3 floors. It is mostly paintings with some sculptures. I liked the cast glass in particular. Worth the price if you enjoy art museums.

This museum is in a breathtaking space next to the Civil War Museum and across from the World War II Museum. It is one of the most beautiful, modern designed buildings I have ever seen.
"Blackglama" and the William R. Hollingsworth exhibits were awesome. The exhibit from House of Blues was both fun and profound.
Must see, folks!

This museum focuses on art by southern artists. On our visit we saw an exhibit on primitive/self-taught art, photographs taken by Eudora Welty and for the Blackglama fur ads (featuring celebrities) as we as landscape and portrait artists' work. There is also an education center for younger visitors.

We visited between Christmas and New Years, 2012, with family, which included an 8-year-old curious girl. She and I spent a happy half-hour checking out multi-colored jars with art, poems, etc. by kids her age. Had a blast! The exhibits vary in appeal, age-suitability and quality, but they're all very well presented.
Now it's June 2013, and I spent the past three days in NOLA, where a friend told me this museum is experiencing hard times: they're down to two employees! So ATTENTION TRAVELERS! Go visit this museum and help keep it alive! It's worth it!

Dear Storyspinning:
So glad that you enjoyed your visit to the Ogden Museum, and for your enthusiastic review. I did want to point out that we are not financially struggling and have more than 2 employees! But thank you for your concern and again, your enthusiastic support of the Ogden Museum.

We are celebrating our 10th anniversary in August. Please check into our web site--ogdenmuseum.org--to see what we are doing!

Highly recommend this museum. Be sure to see the outside patio on the top floor. Great gift store also. The special exhibits vary and all were great. Never crowded. Near the WWII museum.
