“Good value, small collection”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

You really need to go out to City Park and see the beauty of the park. The sculpture garden is gorgeous & free. The museum, however, is quite small. I happened to be there while they were putting in a new display, so much of it was closed. They did, however, lower the admission price to $5 which made it worthwhile. Not a large selection of well known artists, but a decent array of art from different periods/places.

“A Nice Art Collection in City Park”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

A good collection of art work ranging from Greek pots and decorative arts to 14th century altar panels to modern collection and changing exhibitions.Superb examples of 19th century Louisiana landscape painters. Well-prepared food in cafe. Can be reached by trolley from major hotels costing seniors $.40 one way (compared to $20 cab ride) Located in City Park providing beautiful setting for walks.

“EXCELLENT ATMOSPHERE, GOOD FOOD, GREAT MUSEUM”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

Very nice atmosphere with good soups and sandwiches for lunch. The museum itself is in City Park which has a lot to offer, including botanical gardens and sculpture. The museum has a diverse collection which ranges from Pre-Columbian to Post Impressionist. Very nicely done!
