“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

The museum is in the middle of City Park and you can get to it on the trolley from the centre of town. The exhibits are really well displayed and there is a fab tribal art section on the top floor. For me the highlight of our trip was the statue garden - wonderful!

“Easy to get there by Street Car”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

Part of the experience of the NOLA Museum of Art was getting there by street car, and understanding that much of the area was impacted by Katrina. The collection is situated in a lovely building and there are some interesting pieces; a room dedicated to Fabergé, a donated personal collection of fantastic porcelain figures (the detail is outstanding), and some lovely paintings (an imposing one of Marie Antoinette which if you are a fan is worth the trip) including a few impressionists. The well maintained sculpture garden is worth seeing, as is the city park which is a beautiful green space.

“Middling”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

Only $5 admission, did make the overall experience a good value. But the art is of pretty middle quality. There is a tiny section on medieval, renaissance, and Neo classical art but no important works. Overall nice but little to be missed.

“go for the sculpture garden, stay for lunch”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

We wandered in almost by accident. The sculpture garden is first rate--very interestingly composed scupltures in a lovely setting. We also had lunch in the cafe--very good, and saw the collection of european art, which is respectable.
