Owner description: The National WWII Museum is the top-rated tourist destination in New Orleans, TripAdvisor's #2 museum in the world and #2 in the U.S., and an unforgettable way to experience World War II—from industrial efforts on the home front to the combat experience of the American servicemember abroad. Offering a compelling blend of sweeping narrative and poignant personal detail, the Museum features immersive exhibits, multimedia experiences, and an expansive collection of artifacts and first-person oral histories to take visitors inside the story of the war: why it was fought, how it was won, and what it means today. Beyond the galleries, the Museum offers unique access to experiential history, including an opportunity to tour and even ride on an authentically restored PT-boat, tours behind the scenes to handle artifacts alongside Museum curators, and an impressive collection of restored and working macro-artifacts to discover. The Museum is open daily, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. nationalww2museum.org

We only had 1.5 hours to spend here before we had to go to the airport and I'm bummed. This museum is top-class and full of personal stories from veterans and others. Easily could have spent half a day (and that's from someone who doesn't read every placard, watch every video full length - if you are one of those types, you better allocate 6 hours!). The football traveling exhibit was there and very cool!

I was hoping for more than movies and gear that you can still buy on eBay. There are a couple of pieces of hardware but way too heavy on the museum look, feel, giftshop, photos and personal stories with too little good history. The Russian contribution is almost invisible?!? This was like watching the human interest stories they broadcast with the olympics without them showing the events! Way too expensive for what they have and show. Most WWII museums make me cry. This one left me cold. I think they wanted it to be kid friendly which is difficult when dealing with the subject matter.

If you are interested in WWII museams in the area, checkout the battle ship, sub and planes in Mobile harbor. The planes are mostly post WWII but the ships are REALLY worth it. Hands on and you can even climb into the gun turrets. They even let you look through the periscope on the sub. Very inexpensive and much better.

Oh yan...The restaurant is good but very expensive.

My husband was so excited to visit this museum. It was supposed to be the highlight of our trip. But, the exhibits shared less memorabilia than we expected. Lots of heavy reading and watching videos if you want to learn anything. I wouldn't bring kids here, not much to keep their attention. I'm hopeful that it will be more exciting when the other campuses are completed.

This is one of the star attractions in New Orleans. It is poignant reminder of the ultimate sacrifices made by our soldiers so we can have our freedom today. It is indeed moving and is a constant reminder that good always prevails over tyranny.
