Owner description: New Orleans' Preservation Hall was established in 1961 to honor one of America's truest art forms - Traditional New Orleans Jazz. Operating as a music venue, a touring band, and a non-profit organization, Preservation Hall continues its mission today as a cornerstone of New Orleans music and culture. Situated in the heart of the French Quarter on St. Peter Street, the Preservation Hall venue presents intimate, acoustic New Orleans Jazz concerts over 350 nights a year featuring ensembles from a current collective of 100+ local master practitioners. On any given night, audiences bear joyful witness to the evolution of this venerable and living tradition.

We had to wait about 1 1/2 hrs to enter, but enjoyed the concert. The performers were excellent and played at 100% level. They are super serious about not recording or photographing, which was the only disruptive part.

We had our "under 21" teenagers with us and were looking for opportunities to see great jazz. This is a fabulously authentic, historical place to go see some jazz. If you don't have time to stand in line for tickets, buy the reserved seats online.

We visited this with our 2 boys aged 12 and 16. Easy (1 hour), rustic venue, intimate and we all loved it - worked for us. We turned up on night a 40 minute wait in a friendly queue watching the passers by and quite inexpensive. You can prebook but it is somewhat more expensive - this will avoid queue a (short) and give access to front row as you enter first- that said venue is small so all seats are close. A great mix of musicians that were versatile and entertaining. Recommended for a quintessential taste of jazz.

You can't visit New Orleans without experiencing it's music and this is the place to be. It is small, crowded and with limited seating (most have to stand, not only inside but also on line outside to see/hear a show) but it is worth the trouble. I'm not a big jazz fan but I loved this show.

If you are any sort of American music fan then Preservation Hall must visit. A charming little room oozing music history.
