Owner description: New Orleans' Preservation Hall was established in 1961 to honor one of America's truest art forms - Traditional New Orleans Jazz. Operating as a music venue, a touring band, and a non-profit organization, Preservation Hall continues its mission today as a cornerstone of New Orleans music and culture. Situated in the heart of the French Quarter on St. Peter Street, the Preservation Hall venue presents intimate, acoustic New Orleans Jazz concerts over 350 nights a year featuring ensembles from a current collective of 100+ local master practitioners. On any given night, audiences bear joyful witness to the evolution of this venerable and living tradition.

“Great Musical Experience”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

My mom recommended Preservation Hall as a must do on my first trip to NOLA. I did a little bit of research to know that there is no food service, no drink service, no A/C, and no reservations. This place is bare bones, stripped down authentic jazz music by seasoned performers and we loved it! Some of the negative reviews discuss the lack of food and drink, the wait, and the lack of seating and A/C. This place is neither a restaurant nor a bar and also isn't in the business of packing people in like a Taylor Swift concert. Eat beforehand, grab drinks from Pat O'Brien's next door (you can bring them into PH), wear comfy/breathable clothing, and get to know your neighbor while waiting in line. It's a great and once of a kind musical experience.

“Quintaessential New Orleans”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

Yes, all visitors go there and yes you won't have the feeling of having stumbled on a secret, but for the ambiance and the place and for what it means for the history of jazz, it's a must. We went there on monday (probably least crowded). A cover $15 lets you stay for the 3 1-hour sets. The preservation band liked to explain their music and songs.

“Satchmo Summerfest”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

Sat across from the Old U.S. Mint at a Pizza Restaurant - outside on the sidewalk - and had wonderful pizza and beer and listened to wonderful Jazz. Standing room only during most of the music, but the atmosphere was great. Very hot in August, but misters and lots to drink. Everyone so very friendly.

“I'm a music lover”

Love seeing all the old musicians that make up NOLA. We were there for the Satchmo festival and seeing the Louis Armstrong's roots was interesting.

“go to listen/move to music”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

We had a good time in the standing room only back corner, but hey, we were there to listen to some music in an iconic place! I wish the crowd around us was more into it. More touristy checking it off their list than dropping in to have a listen
